So, if TOB is gone after this season (unlikely) let's think how it'll play out.

Fans will want a big name, but will settle for a middle name.

Media will proclaim that TOB should never have been fired because he had one 9-win season in 4 years and really NC State fans shouldn't want better than that.

Most coaches will be immediately poisoned against NC State by a combination of administrative tomfoolery and sports pundits talking about how horrible our fanbase is to coaches for having expectations.

Eventually a lower-middle coach will be settled for that'll leave most NC State fans scratching their heads and most other teams' fans glad their athletic departments didn't hire that guy.

Or does that only happen with basketball.

What happened was TOB read packboozie's post about how wake was a bad team and we were a good team. So, we didn't practice at all during the week.


You have to fire TOB after a 5-win 4-win season in year 5.

Nate Irving and Russell Wilson were the only reasons we were good last year. They saved TOB's dumbass just as Rivers saved Amato.

^^^^^The only reason we were good last year was because of some exceptionally good players. TOB is the reason we didn't go to the championship.

Give the proper people their credit, and base the decision to fire TOB based on expected future results. Getting lucky last year shouldn't play into it.

Special teams, defense, running game, game-changing coaching decisions, recruiting, clock management have all sucked balls for the whole time TOB has been here. There has been no improvement. I don't expect any of this to change in the future.

Oh yeah, and he kicked one of the best NCSU QBs off the team, telling future QB recruits that if even you are record-breaking, he will still capriciously get rid of you.

Tob's stubborn mindset is what keeps him from being successful. He couldn't admit he panicked and made the wrong call against Clemson last year and instead blamed it on our punter.

If he'd just come out and admitted he made a huge error he could have learned from it and then made the correct decision this time against wake forest. But alas the stubborness gets in the way again and he defies logic by punting again, only to see it nearly blow up in his face again.

Even with the lucky penalty we still lost by seven which coincidentally is exactly how many points we may have scored if tob had made the correct decision to try to score a TD.

Stop taking our fanbase hostage by trying to play the martyr with ancient fallacious coaching strategies.

We need to hire a strategic coordinator, someone who understands game theory that won't panic in game situations. This I'm sure we will all agree on, but I still expect to get trolled by one of the posters who predicted us to destroy wake forest yesterday against all odds.

Our defense was consistently stopping Clemson and forcing turnovers. We had a chance to force them into terrible field position and get the ball punted back to us (give graham a chance) with over 2 minutes to go. Without the 4 yard punt we could have easily gotten the ball back around the 50 yard line with >2 minutes to go.

Thats the difference in philosophy between TOB and winning coaches. Winning coaches would send their team to win the game instead of hoping the other team loses it.
