a) it's too big. even last night, against the #6 team in the country who oh yeah btw is duke, the 300 level was at maybe 60%.

b) it's not a basketball arena. the seating is awkward b/c of that. the banners are awkward, or at least our banners are awkward.

i don't know what it would've taken to raise the money to build our own arena, but it's hard to imagine a scenario where i wouldn't have preferred that. i really really hate the rbc center.

They should give all unpurchased seats to students right before game time just to fill up the Center if possible. I am sure there are some huge reasons not to do so but I am not going to think of them.

yeah, a lot of us were doing the scheyer face during the game, it was hilarious. Half the time Scheyer wasn't doing anything but throwing the ball in while doing the face at the same time. First time I saw it I was all like wtf?

WAT? the RBC started out as NCSUs basketball home... there was no hockey team/abilities in its design... the design was basically finished and funds were pretty much in place. then at the last minute the idea of a hockey team came into play, the center was partially redesigned (mainly floor/ice/hockey walls, etc) and the canes had to pick up some of the tab.

the reason for the horrible banner hanging has nothing to do with the canes, my best guess is that is was overlooked. that style of roof structure never does well for hanging banners and there was no reason to use it for the RBC center, IMHO.

I have nothing against the Canes banners... they are find where they are.

however, there's just not enough room for those and all of NCSUs banners. The design overlook was using a recessed substructure for the roof which makes it a horrible design for hanging banners.

the game is on 360. watched second half. Duke scouts obviously thought wood was going to be the key, and they devoted a large amount of their defensive effort to try to stop him. Amazing that a skinny, freshman shooter is commanding the respect of one of the best defenses in the country.

that piece of shit was one of the best venues in america. do you think duke just doesn't have the money to leave cameron?

adding ac and even a few seats to that building would have been very doable. look at the job they've done with all the old buildings around it.

Duke's pressure d doesn't work agains penetrating guards and dominant 1 on 1 post players.

Duke has a sag d that they played against shitty shooting teams like uconn but they didn't want wood to get off.

We really struggled against the zone but when wood hit 1 three coach k pulled out. Had he stayed the coarse with that they might have came back and won.

We really need a new zone offense. This whole having 3 people pass it back and forth 35 feet away from the basket from 25 seconds then chuck a bad shot or let smwith operate 1 on 4 thing isn't very efficient.

Wehn the pg has the ball against the zone everyone should be down in the corners or inside the 3pt line. We don't even put anybody in the zone.

Maryland plays a mean 2-1-2 that we never beat and I bet they stay in it and let Wood get about 5 3s but where will the rest of our points come from?

by the way, i thought the student section was pretty pathetic.

it was so quiet at times that i started a cheer for the students from alumni seats in 105. it worked and was effective and got the whole arena cheering, but DAMN. it should have been non-stop from the students.
