I read the wolf web all the time; however I rarely post. For those of you that think tonight’s officiating did not have a direct impact on the game something is wrong with you.

Sure we missed wide open shots, but they had to fight through tremendous momentum shifts proliferated by the officials.

The officials never called over the back fouls (Lowe addressed this after the game in a clever way), they missed two obvious goaltending violations when state was desperate for points, they failed to call an obvious charging violation on UNC, and they made two out of bounds calls that I would characterize as very suspicious.

The main official making the questionable calls was Bob Donato. I have not been this upset over officiating since NC State’s loss against Vanderbilt back in the NCAA tournament.

yeah, I know the officiating was bad, and did shift the momentum into UNC's favor, but if we couldve made a third of the missed shots we had in the 12 minute cold stretch we wouldve stayed in the game

my biggest question is why the hell does CJ Williams still play at all? He was out there at some pretty key times last night contributing NOTHING. When he is on the floor opposing defenses can just run a 5-on-4 against us because he refuses to shoot the ball. And I dont know what the deal is with his ball-handling nowadays, but he seems to turn the ball over almost every time he gets put into the game - either by getting it stolen or by losing control

^ I remember that sequence with the jump balls and thought it was strange until I realized that on the first one, they didn't actually call a jump ball... they somehow called it out of bounds on us (which was odd considering we never had possession. Still a piss poor call, though. Like others have said, our shooting killed us, not the refs.

It definantly did not help us though. We were aweful in the second half thats for certain. I can not and will not say that we would have one had the refs actually called the game fairly, but what I will say is it would have been a completely different and much closer ball game

although starting the 2nd half 4-22 doesnt help, neither does playing 8 on 5. i really believe Smith fucked us with his comments after the Wake game. It seems we dont ever get a fair shake. Even some UNC fans i know commented on the officiating last night being overwhelmingly in their favor.

that missed goal tending call changed the game...if it was called i "want" to believe it would have been a different game. not necessarily a different outcome but i think it would have given the team a lift.

what about when graves hit the ball out of bounds after our rebound and unc got the ball?

what about when we were up five and smith gets two touch fouls the next two times he is near the ball?

what about ed davis using his off arm to hook smith and get to the basket not being called 3 times?

what about two uncalled travels?

all of this happened during the run.

Upon Rewatching the game via ESPN360, I can confirm that the officiating did not cause us to lose the game.

The officials did not cause Horner/Wood to throw up 20 uncontested bricks (and a missed reverse layup GG HORNER)

exactly. We lost to UNC for the same reason we blew the UMD game -- we get in long scoring droughts. we can't make field goals / too many unsuccessful attempts at the 3 / missed layups. I'm surprised carolina didn't beat us by 30+.

Chase Landon Miller so me and my friends after the game staked out the waffle house next to state's campus in order to paint their tunnel. a girl from state walked by as we were painting and was like "but we worked soooo hard on it. it took forever!" and we covered that crap in blue in about 20 minutes. BEST. NIGHT. EVER.

meh, most of the unc fans i know will say that we're a rival. i feel like most of their fans feel this way -- hence the tunnel painting. they'll care more about beating us, if we manage to beat them regularly (a la football). but i digress.

^^^ Staked out the Waffle house - WTF does that even mean. I am surprised there is even a UNC student that is brave enough to step into an awful waffle. One would figure them to stake out State at the Harris Teeter or Starbucks instead.

Also I assume they went to Wal Mart first to get paint, but probably picked up some of the latest bandwagon UNC gear. Plus if painting the NC State tunnel after UNC beats a shitty NC State team represents the best night ever, then I feel sorry for these douches.

I was at the game, and I feel like the officiating was very weird.

It seemed to me like the white ref on UNC's end was making some very questionable calls in favor of UNC, calls that made no sense, calls that pissed off everybody in the stadium.

What I found equally odd was that it seemed like the black ref was calling some stupid stupid touchy shit back the other way, but usually only after what we thought were bad calls on the other end.

I felt like it was very "bad call, makeup call." Not saying had it been any different that the game would have, but it was odd.

I knew that UNC student, that Chase Miller guy, in elementary school. Didn't know he'd turned into a dick.

Yes, the officiating was very bad, and did help UNC turn the tide of the game, but we flat out sucked. Lowe better hope that he gets Leslie and pulls in the #1 class and that we do some crazy shit next year. I'm a big Lowe fan, he even came over to where I was sitting before the game, told us to get the place loud and rocking and gave us a fist bump, but after 4 years I expected more than this. We always take a step forward, then HUGE steps backward. We had a great gameplan against Duke. Sure we missed a TON of open shots against UMD and UNC, but there were hardly ANY changes in gameplan and style. We saw good coaching in the Clemson game I thought too, but Sid has really disappointed me in the last two games. This team hasn't given up all year and has played very gritty and hard despite a lack of talent. We've been just plain bad the last two games. If a crowd that loud last night can't help to pump you up then I don't know what can.

Exactly my point. I don’t normally complain about the officiating. Every game has bad calls; however this game was different. For instance, Karl Hess is a horrible official that equally distributes his suckness across the Big East and ACC. What happened Tuesday in the RBC center was different and was weird to say the least. I hate conspiracies and I won’t go as far to say the officials had an agenda; however there were too many strange calls out there. The meaningless make up touch fouls called on UNC were strange.
