Good episode... and damn Shane, that was cold. At least if you are gonna shoot the dude, shoot him in the head so he doesn't get eaten alive. I thought that maybe the zombies wouldn't eat someone who was already dead but then I remembered the guy in the woods that hung himself had his legs all eaten. I guess they are setting Shane up to be a villain. 10/31/2011 8:54:40 AM |

I liked last nights episode a lot more than any other of the season but it still had some really weak points. Lets talk about Carl seeing a deer and how amazing that was for five minutes but then only show one minute of Shane and Otis trying to get away from hoards of walkers. And yeah Shane should have at least shot the guy in the head, cold as ice. 10/31/2011 10:34:05 AM |

^ They're still human, they do stupid human things. It wouldn't be entertaining to watch a bunch of cold hard killers go through surviving the zombie apocalypse and never making mistakes.
This is before Rick's "WE are the walking dead" revelation. Things will change a little bit when (if) we ever get to that point. 10/31/2011 10:35:00 AM |

yet another mostly boring episode minus the shane and otis adventure. Pretty fucked up at the end, but I approve.
The one thing is that if they came in on a vehicle, why didn't one use the vehicle to distract all the zombies at the high school while the other one slips in and get the stuff... Its just stupid shit like this that just breaks the whole common sense shit. I mean even in season one, they did this with the camaro... 10/31/2011 5:07:12 PM |

if ammo was so precious... then why the hell did otis use it for hunting in the first place? Specially since it attracts so much attention... and the exact moment carl was looking at a deer... I mean if human contact is basically slim to none out in the woods without zombies, what are the chances that a hunting accident happens in a zombified world?
Story got more holes than Carl. 10/31/2011 11:32:55 PM |

they did just plow through a field of zombies. i doubt otis carried every single rifle round that he owned with him.

watched all three episodes in one sitting. The pacing of this show is so bad and bounces around so much that it's actually hard to watch at points. I found myself wanting to fast forward through so many parts. The fact that AMC has the nerve to call this the 'scariest television series ever' is insolent. There is nothing remotely scary or horrifying about this show.
i was a proponent of season one, thinking that it would set up for some great, intense moments in season 2 but so far i've been extremely let down. 11/1/2011 8:26:52 AM |

The walking dead in this show strike me as the looming jaws under the boat that you only occasionally see. I can see why they do that, but to me, there needs to be more surprise zombie encounters, rather than a bunch of deep interpersonal dialogue on top of an RV. Zombies are meant to be seen, in massive numbers, where you are constantly under siege even when you are relatively safe. This show is trying too hard with character development and not enough in the zombie department. Action first folks, then character development.

You'd think so, considering how much time has been spent with just dialogue and sitting around, but what exactly have we learned in 10 episodes for each character? Nobody's been developed at all.
All they do is sit around and repeat what happened in previous episodes.11/1/2011 8:45:34 AM |

If the characters had depth then it wouldn't be so bad. But making us spend almost 35 minutes of one episode with these characters before seeing even one zombie, and with very little character development is not good show writing. 11/1/2011 8:45:52 AM |
Stimwalt All American 15292 Posts user info edit post |
Clearly they are failing to develop their characters despite trying so hard, but I think the major point here is that they are getting away from the bread and butter of "The Walking Dead" ... the ZOMBIES!
The characters are an afterthought, and are meant to quickly develop and then die, that's how it should work.

that's bread and butter for your typical B rated zombie fare which the powers that be have said many times that this show is not.
It's not the road map that AMC and the writers have elected to take. I haven't read the graphic novels but I can only imagine the characters are more important in that version and not just extra bait for zombies to feed on from page to page.
But i am agree that the suspense and scare need to be ramped up a bit.] 11/1/2011 9:16:45 AM |
Stimwalt All American 15292 Posts user info edit post |
It should be called The Walking Living at this point. Even if they had a different direction in mind for character development, they aren't doing a good job. So poor character development plus a lack of zombies equals boring tv. 11/1/2011 11:10:29 AM |
