Clausen played behind a terrible O-line who could not protect the QB or block for our running game. He had very little consistency from our WR core and he was a rookie. Cut the guy some fucking slack. As long as the Panthers have Hurney and Richardson running the show, the Panthers will continue to be a laughing stock. They don't spend money in the right places, they don't value key positions, and they are flat out retarded when it comes to make good draft decisions.

after last year, yesbut there is more to the franchise than just one horrible year
4/27/2011 3:53:44 PM
We've had plenty of horrible years.1995 - 7-91996 - 12-41997 - 7-91998 - 4-121999 - 8-82000 - 7-92001 - 1-152002 - 7-92003 - 11-52004 - 7-92005 - 11-52006 - 8-82007 - 7-92008 - 12-42009 - 8-82010 - 2-14[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 4:10 PM. Reason : I wouldn't call five 7-9 seasons good by any means. ][Edited on April 27, 2011 at 4:12 PM. Reason : didnt mean to count 1995]
4/27/2011 4:04:49 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Carolina_Panthers_seasonsOut of 16 years, I'd say we've had 6 good ones. The four playoff years, 1995, and 1999.The rest have been average or worse. So we're at least decent 37.5% of the timeAwesome
4/27/2011 4:07:43 PM
you're really going to use 1995 as an example of a bad year?
4/27/2011 4:10:46 PM
9 losing seasons in 16 seasons is pretty pathetic.[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 4:12 PM. Reason : didnt mean to count 1995][Edited on April 27, 2011 at 4:13 PM. Reason : we only have 4 winning seasons in our team's existance, lol]

he had the 1995 season bolded before he edited it[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 5:14 PM. Reason : and I was talking about VOLCOM's post, not Slave's]
4/27/2011 5:03:45 PM
we only have 4 winning seasons in our team's existence
4/27/2011 5:18:26 PM
while everyone knows how lame the team has been overall, what exactly is the point of these futility posts
4/27/2011 5:21:27 PM
nothing reallyI was just pointing out that hoping our team will be decent under Hurney and Richardson is absolutely pointless.Hurney has no idea what the hell is doing and Richardson sounds like he's downed about 2 pints of whiskey every time he speaks. As long as they are around, the Panthers are doomed. This has caused me to realistically only watch Chargers games.
4/27/2011 5:25:14 PM
Cool, I'd take a team I only follow because I like the quarterback over the team I grew up watching for the past 16 years too
4/27/2011 5:27:22 PM
And he's only recently a prick. For most of the Panther's existence, he was likebut lately, he's like
4/27/2011 5:29:10 PM
i blame his new heart, i think it belonged to an asshole]
4/27/2011 5:32:15 PM
Richardson should have sent Hurney out of town with FoxRarely post in here, but every time I look at the draft order, I ask what special breed of asshole trades a 2nd rounder for Armanti Edwards[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 6:12 PM. Reason : /obvious]

so according to espn they've narrowed it down to newton, peterson, dareus, and green. apparently richardson invited newton to his house and was impressed
4/27/2011 9:05:05 PM
meanwhile Richardson says "you are the 25th black man that's graced my grounds"
4/27/2011 9:07:38 PM
I'd rather have a Fig Newton than a Nig Newton
4/27/2011 9:37:46 PM
even ignoring the fact that newton has thrown barely any passes compared to the others, how many passes against real coverages has he thrown? I mean you've got to take in to account that when you're running up and down the field on guys at will it's going to make your passing game about 60% easier, drafting newton is like taking a high school player basically which does work out some times in the nba but damn
4/27/2011 9:43:26 PM
i would prefer this newton:
4/27/2011 9:43:33 PM
stupidly confident that he's going to prove all the haters wrong(says someone who wishes we would draft Peterson)
4/27/2011 11:36:54 PM
I'd love for the Panthers to take a chance on AJ Green...Panthers definitely need WR help. But I think they'll end up taking Newton. Newton is going to sell tickets and bring hype...
4/27/2011 11:40:24 PM
Not saying that Newton is gonna be a star although I think in a few years he will be a good NFL QB, but I like all the people that act like the other draft candidates who have also never played a down in the NFL are somehow "not risky" picks. And I realize QB has the biggest learning curve in the transition, but people act like Petersen or Dareus are locks to be pro bowlers as rookies
4/27/2011 11:43:49 PM
someone in this thread is 100% sure that Peterson is going to make more pro bowls than Newton
4/27/2011 11:45:10 PM
If Petersen gets drafted by an AFC team he could have a great 10 year career and never make a Pro Bowl
4/27/2011 11:55:14 PM
4/27/2011 11:59:41 PM
I think completion percentage and accuracy are what you have to look at in order to project an NFL QB. Windows are much smaller in the NFL, and you need the accuracy to make the throws. If we draft Newton, it's so we can get the #1 pick next year to get Luck.
4/28/2011 12:00:43 AM
If we want Luck next year, the best bet is for Clausen to startI would bet a large sum of money on the impossible-to-prove hypothetical that Newton would win us more games than Clausen next year, even if it was just 1 or 2 more wins
4/28/2011 12:03:42 AM
I'd love for you to give me an example of when a team has drafted a QB #1 overall in back-to-back years
4/28/2011 12:06:16 AM
I can't even remember if an NFL team has ever had the #1 overall pick two years in a row
4/28/2011 12:33:33 AM
If the Panthers did have the #1 overall, somebody would be willing to give a whole heap of draft picks to take either Luck or Barkley, would serve this franchise well to accept all those picks and build a team around Newton
4/28/2011 6:43:53 AM
Newton sucks end of story. Any statement that starts out with us drafting newton should be closely followed by "franchise killer"
4/28/2011 7:35:10 AM
Sources close to panthers 99.9% certain newton is the pick
4/28/2011 8:36:19 AM
^^how do you know that?I've been pretty impressed with his interviews and workout footage that I've seen. His segment on the Jon Gruden QB Camp was great. The dude is a proven championship winner, and has been on two separate levels in the two years coming into the draft.Just go back and watch/remember Auburn's game against Alabama this year, when Cam put the entire team on his back and won the game. I remember thinking during that game that there is not a single player in the country even close to the leader that he is.I think he's as good of a pick as we could make in this draft - on par with Patrick Peterson and Von Miller in my mind[Edited on April 28, 2011 at 8:39 AM. 4/28/2011 8:48:14 AM
I just came in here to post that I could care less about the Panthers. I cheer for them the majority of the time. But there are maybe 7-10 teams I like better than the Panthers. I also think Newton will be a horrible pick.Carry on.
4/28/2011 8:53:21 AM
guess i gotta go post in all the other teams' threads to say how i feel about them
4/28/2011 8:54:02 AM
^^ if you could care less, why don't you?
4/28/2011 9:13:00 AM
Clausen will start at least 2 games this season
