well I guess I was wrong about Bon Iver having the #1 album, but #2 with over 100k albums sold in a week ain't bad

I'll buy it when it becomes the new Ferrante and Teicher album in thrift stores in 5 years for $1.

It took about 5-6 listens, but I finally was able to appreciate what the strange vocal delivery adds to the arrangements on the WU LYF album. Very solid debut.

I just tried for a third time to get into WU LYF. I don't think its going to happen. His voice doesn't bother me, in fact, I like it. If he could just keep the voice and actually pronounce words (think a more gruff Future Islands) I could deal with it.

i gave it a quick once over and its at least better than The Bachelor.

will have to listen to it some more to get a better feel for it.

Been playing the shit out of Wu Lyf right now. We Bros and Heavy Pop are my favorite tracks so far.

I like the Wu Lyf -- the vocals don't bother me too badly and I don't find them overly distracting.

sounds pretty similar to Isaac Brock's delivery, honestly.

I was jamming out to the new Wu Lyf and my roommate walked in and the first thing he asked me was, "if that the new Modest Mouse?".

This album is realllllly good though, can't stop listening to it.

Anxiously awaiting the release of Slave Ambient by the War On Drugs.

However, I'm not a fan of a 45rpm record release, because they aren't exactly the most hi-fi band out there, and I don't see why else they would release it like that (sound/recording quality)...

I haven't looked at the length of it, but it's possible that it's not quite three sides' worth at 33, so might as well put it on 45 and use up all of the available space since you're already pressing two discs.

yes, the foster the people album (finally listened yeah, yeah) is totally catchy. cheesy fo sho but very catchy. i dig it.

new cults really never did anything for me. haven't even listened to it again. oh well.

still stuck on wu lyf, bon iver, and the future islands before the bridge ish

i liked the new Beirut but haven't listened to that again since i downloaded it either. will have to give it another listen.

its whatev. the wu lyf is one of the only records that has had much relistening power for me lately. and the only one that i have actually really really loved.

it is what it is. you don't have to get it. i don't get people jizzing over cults and james blake (and i like james blake do not get me wrong). people rave about a lot of stuff ITT i don't get the hype for. *shrug* and the overhype shit is true. when i first listened to this no one had said anything about it and i had no expectations. i'm sure that has a lot to do with it. and why i don't LOVE a lot of things people rave about here. because i've read all this shit and my expectations are way high and then i'm just like "meh"

i also think the vocals alone probably already make it super inaccessible to a lot of people. i just have been mega bored by a lot of stuff that has come out recently. or if it isn't boring, it just seems like the same old shit. to me this is not boring to me. i mean i'm sure part of it is that it definitely has a certain nostalgic effect in that it is sort of reminiscent of early modest mouse and wolf parade and explosions in the sky (bands i used to love love love). and in parts has almost an animal collective feel (another fav). they apparently recorded the album in an abandoned church? pretty interesting. i think spitting blood through the end of the album is an awesome progression of songs (concrete gold. yes, please)

i def sound like a crazy fangirl. i just honestly haven't had an album in a long while that i've said YES this is what i've been looking for about. i don't get how people DON'T love it

i think my fav albums of the year so far are: wu lyf (duh), akron/family (taking it bad to the beg of the year), austra. obviously liked a ton more but these are my top 3 favorite favorites so far (i think anyway haha)

Just got back from Italy where I saw them open up for The National. Zach came out and played trumpet for their last few songs. It was great.
