Russia first sent in troops pretending to be separatists to take control of the area. They then sent in the mobile missile launcher with staff to that area, shot down a commercial airliner that same day, and then moved the missile launcher back into Russia immediately afterwards. Calling that the actions of a 3rd party is a bit of a stretch. 1/11/2020 3:39:12 PM |

Reminder that Earl isn’t anti-war or anti-imperialism. He is anti-American war and imperialism.
Somewhere, somehow a lot of the fringe left lost there way and reflexively defend horrible states and horrible people who inflict massive human rights violations.
(America is guilty as charged and so is Russia, Assad, etc) 1/12/2020 4:07:48 PM |

Jesus christ its not defending them just because we don't think policing the world should be america's role. I am an American and only have control over what America does. The notion that America should wage war in the name of world peace is just window dressing for ever-expanding imperialism. Stop using other countries as an excuse for your horrible actions. Thats peak whataboutism.
i don't pay taxes to russia and Assad hasn't done anything outside of his borders which were drawn up by westerners

Who is saying this here? Are you having hallucinations?
Pelosi causes Trump to assassinate Soulemani and America caused Assad to gas his own countrymen. No one, anywhere has autonomy by the US. Basically.

Its hard to keep track of what you are saying and to who or what because your posts bounce around with use of sarcasm (sometimes for the entire post) and sometimes calling me Earl or calling other people Earl.

Like here, I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or you almost get it. The only part of this I disagree with is your assertion of certainty that Assad was responsible for the Shaykhun sarin attack. We just don't know but regardless of that, the general point is taken. The US is responsible for the civil war happening in Syria in the first place, the rebels being well enough armed to fight the government to the stalemate leading up to the attack, ISIS undermining the government from Iraq, and the overall instability in the region in general. Were it not for Russia and Iran, Sunni militias would be running the entire country by now. And remember, they were welcomed by the government of Syria while we are in the region illegally.
Going back further, I can't believe you guys don't know about/acknowledge where "Syria" and "Iraq" came from. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sykes%E2%80%93Picot_Agreement If you look around the world and find places with instability and or human rights violations, Western intervention/colonialism/imperialism/culpability is to blame more often than not. The solution to the problems caused by western intervention is not more western intervention. We need to let go of this outdated, white supremacist notion that we can "fix things" and focus resources our own country while letting the rest of the world thrive.

From Friday but just seeing today: On the day U.S. forces killed Soleimani, they targeted a senior Iranian official in Yemen https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/on-the-day-us-forces-killed-soleimani-they-launched-another-secret-operation-targeting-a-senior-iranian-official-in-yemen/2020/01/10/60f86dbc-3245-11ea-898f-eb846b7e9feb_story.html
Quote : | "On the day the U.S. military killed a top Iranian commander in Baghdad, U.S. forces carried out another top-secret mission against a senior Iranian military official in Yemen, according to U.S. officials.
The strike targeting Abdul Reza Shahlai, a financier and key commander in Iran’s elite Quds Force who has been active in Yemen, did not result in his death, according to four U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
The unsuccessful operation may indicate that the Trump administration’s killing of Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani last week was part of a broader operation than previously explained, raising questions about whether the mission was designed to cripple the leadership of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or solely to prevent an imminent attack on Americans as originally stated." |
I had assumed this was about impeachment, but with this second attack it sounds like it may be about Saudi Arabia1/13/2020 9:06:30 AM |

He first tweeted "All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good!
Later he described damage to tents and helicopters, and said it was "nothing major".
Then he said the strikes weren't "very serious" and then said "I heard that they had headaches, and a couple of other things.” and went on to say “No, I don’t consider them very serious injuries relative to other injuries that I’ve seen. I’ve seen people with no legs and no arms.” 1/31/2020 10:28:28 AM |

I'm guessing white lies for the sake of peace. If word of this got out right after the strike, there would have been a ton of pressure to hit back and start a war. 1/31/2020 12:07:00 PM |

Well not "literally everything" because he selectively lies in ways that will help his agenda or make him look good/strong. I think we mean the same thing though. 1/31/2020 12:51:54 PM |

Pentagon says there are now _109_ service members suffering from mild Traumatic Brain Injury after Iran's attacks on the Al Asad Airbase in Iraq. 76 have already returned to duty. 21 have serious enough injuries to have been flown to the US. 2/10/2020 7:12:14 PM |

After loudly withdrawing from the Iran Nuclear Deal so they could “get tuff” and “force Iran to the negotiating table,” the Trump Administration is now claiming it never actually withdrew so that it can attempt to extend arms embargoes. As it turns out, leaving the agreement torpedoed USA’s diplomatic leverage, which I vaguely recall is what every global security expert suggested was likely to happen.
