Ive been impressed with my Savage 114. Your short action equivalent would be the Savage 14.

http://www.chuckhawks.com/savage_model14.htm

I know nothing about Tikka though.

In other news today I bought an old H&R model 999 revolver. Need to replace a few buggered screws but otherwise like new. The quality of these old guns before they got bought by those same fuckers that ruined Marlin and Remington is top notch. This gun locks up better than any Ruger or S&W ive ever had.

6 inch top break 9 shot 22 ftw

Ill take some pictures after I get it squared away.

I sold some AR500 plates on here a while back, 3/8" thick I believe.

I have 1 foot squares and 2 foot squares. Some have drilled holes to be hung, some dont.

$50 for small and $150 for large? Shipping would be separate obviously, and it's probably worthwhile just to pick up locally in the Charlotte or Winston-Salem area (depends on the week).

Just let me know!

I have these from a chain / wooden frame setup. I havent punched through or really damaged one yet. I just keep repainting the ones I use.

223, 303, 30-06, 45-70. At 50 and 100 yards ive only gotten divots maybe 2-3mm deep from any of them.

Handguns dont hurt it at all. 22, 38, 357, 44, 45.

I have 1 big one left and 10 small.

Also I might by interested in selling a large quantity of loose Lake City 30-06 blacktip (1954 manufacture). Can include the original cans depending on quantity. Unsure about price or how anxious I am to sell it, but figured I would throw it out there to look at offers.

Thanks,

Oops im not in classifieds!

After 3 weeks of looking, I finally found .40 at walmart.
Only $.385 a round after tax.

Picked up 600 rounds this morning, and will go back after work to see if any is left.

"As far as brands go, I've been looking at Tikka's after reading some good reviews. Savage's are intriguing from a price point but I have never put my hands on one."

Savages are always a solid choice. They tend to shoot well due to the floating bolt head. I'd like to get a beater short action Savage down the road and rebarrel/restock it.

I have a Tikka T3 Lite in 308. I've said before and still believe that you can't find a rifle at that price that has the same quality machining as a T3. The triggers are some of the better factory triggers and the accuracy is very good. My T3 will shoot any good factory ammo sub MOA. I love that my T3 with scope weighs less than most other rifles without scope.

Ok if recoil on a large caliber bolt gun is 100
Recoil with a muzzle brake would be ?
How about with a silencer/suppressor ?

Nah those weren't numbers I pulled out of my ass...

I don't know which helps more but a suppressor is a hell of a lot cooler. $250 for a stamp sucks but the coolness factor is way up there.

I don't really care about the coolness I've just heard that you don't want to shoot 300win mag 7mm ultra mag or .338 lapua mag very long without a brake... Those are my preferred round choices but I've heard the muzzle blast from a brake sucks too. Surpressor seems win/win cept I'd have to take it off and re-zero the gun if I went hunting with It in nc (or ny which is more likely) but I guess with a threaded barrel I could just screw a brake on and do that too.

You can't hunt with a suppressor in NC.

Hmm the old big bore suppressor conundrum.

Shoot it a lot on and the gas residue will seal it up and improve accuracy, but it stains your barrel.

Take it off for cleaning and risk zero-shift.

What's the answer? DOPE.

Second, I had me first visit with my suppressor. Should get the stamp late November/ early December.

Just a crazy round I saw today when visiting my suppressor. One of the guys there trades weird rounds with another guy. That was what he brought in today. He actually has dies for that caliber, and a chamber reamer, and made his own gun in that caliber.

That setup is sick, I wish I could bring myself to drop that kind of coin on a pistol. I put a Burris fastfire iii on an XDM I have (basically got the fastfire for free) but I didn't really love it, would probably be better if I had the slide machined for it, i don't like how high it sits.

^Sitting up high may be the point. When you add a CAN to most guns, you typically have to get raised sights to see over the CAN. Unless you get an Osprey, the standard round CANs will block your sights.

His sits lower because the slide is machined and it sits down in the slide a bit, mine sits completely on top (and I don't have a can). I couldn't quite zero it because the dot would not go low enough, if I had a slide machined for it, this wouldn't be an issue.

not trying to be a dickbag, but when i shot a buddies suppressed 45 i was not impressed.

given the amount of time and money that went into the gun i was underwhelmed by the noise reduction.

i dont have specifics on the suppressor he used, but i believe it was in the $800 dollar range, and this was on a FNH 45.

years of silencers in movies have ruined me i guess. ill never go through the trouble to own one of these-

No, they aren't like the movies, but bringing it down to hearing safe is pretty awesome.

I also did the paperwork for my 11.5" SBR. It should also come back close to december.

cant remember who makes them now, but i seem to recall a company that turns out ruger 10/22s with integrated barrel suppressors. seems like it would be a neat (but expensive) gun with the right ammo.

anyway, im thinking of getting one of those little hi-viz fiber optic front sights for my baikal coach gun. the front bead that comes on these is pretty terrible. hi-viz makes a kit that comes with like 5 different threaded inserts that is supposed to be universally applicable to about any shotgun. ive seen some messageboard posts indicating they fit the baikal and its indeed a screw in bead.

anyway, i dont have much experience with fiber optic sights, so i was wondering if anyone here could chime in on the best color.

red/yellow/green? thanks in advance.

gemtech makes an integrated suppressor for the 10/22 and the Mark III, but I'd steer clear of them because IIRC they can't be disassembled for cleaning. 22lr can be very dirty ammo.

besides, I'd rather be able to swap out one suppressor between multiple guns. the only suppressor I've bought to be run on a single gun is my TiRant 45, and I can even get adaptors to run that supressor on 9mm and 40 if I cared about owning those rounds. I contemplated holding off and getting a can that could handle 45/70 and using it for a pistol as well, but I didn't find reports of many people doing that.

a suppressed .45 or 9mm is not "whisper" quiet. it will be hearing safe, but if there was a sleeping baby outside, it would wake the baby. My .22 Sparrow on the other hand is so fucking quiet. All you hear is the hammer and slide...then the target being hit.

I had realistic expectations. You also need to shoot with shorter barrels and subsonic ammo. I had some ammo that I thought was subsonic, but it really wasn't. After a few hand loads, it made a world of difference.

You should hear my 300 Blackout with my 762SDN6.

147 grain out of a sub 5" barrel is subsonic.
180 grain .40 is as well.

Supersonic 9mm
https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=67

hand load 9mm. not 115 gr, load 147 gr, or 124, or even 158 grain bullets designed for a 38 super or 357

or buy https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=341 147 gr
or http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/FI9APE.aspx

You still get over 300 foot pounds of muzzle energy with a subsonic 9mm

And you can always go to a subsonic 40 SW, the competition loads with a 10mm style 200 gr bullet push 400+ foot pounds of energy

Thanks. My gf's brother has come to the conclusion that having a ccw halves your legal driving BAC, whether you are carrying a weapon or not. What on earth could have led him to believe this?

In other news, I finally got some time in with my LC9 and for a gun of that size I was really surprised at how comfortable it was to shoot, and how accurate I was with it.

Every dumbass Ricky believes some stupid shit like that. I've had them tell me that if you carry somewhere you aren't supposed to then the punishment is more harsh if you have a CHP. Someone has convinced my mom not to get her CHP because it'll be a misdemeanor without CHP and a felony if she has it. Fucking idiots.
