i am surprised hodge's point total is that low. it seemed like all 2k points we clutch baskets. 5/12/2010 8:55:06 PM |

hodge was really shy and reluctant offensively. Most of his points were "garbage" and "hustle" points off of rebounds, broken down plays and backdoor cuts for easy baskets. He couldn't shoot either. Except ft, which everyone was great at. 5/12/2010 9:37:13 PM |

you guys seem to glorify/remember him off of a few huge games but go back and watch a lot of his stuff. he was a great player but he was never a melo-type scorer. He wasn't generally a guy that would get his own shot. He was a good driver but most of his stuff came out of the offense. 5/12/2010 10:16:18 PM |

Hodge was actually the one guy that could create a shot and score when Herb's offense fell apart. Our best end of game plays were when he waved the play Herb drew up and took it himself (see UConn). 5/12/2010 10:31:10 PM |

there were times Hodge was pissed Herb called a time out to set up a play
he'd rather create on his own.

I never said he couldn't create. He was a great playmaker but he wasn't a melo type that could go get a bunch of points. Mainly because of his lack of shooting. Go watch some games and see how many of his points came on open layups off assists and stuff around the basket.

theres no way you can be shy offensively and still "drive" all at the same time.
just not possible.
I wont fall into the trap, wont do it. He got shot...NBA careers are a little tough after being shot.

The idiocy of mambagrl is hilarious. Here is the formula for his posts: write something that contradicts conventional wisdom/common knowledge, then back that up with totally irrelevant comparisons to NBA players/situations, and finally call other users out for not watching games when it's obvious that he himself never actually watched the games in question. 5/13/2010 1:32:41 AM |

So we will most likely need to get a point guard in the 2011 class to provide depth since Javi will have graduated and Julius has decided to transfer. One guy we are looking at is Jerome Seagears.

APR = Academic Performance Rating
The program is what monitors the schools and releases the ratings.
What was the other school in the ACC that was honored? I know it can't be Maryland. Gary Williams has an atrocious graduation rate. Last year we had the best APR in the ACC and were top 10 nationally. It's funny how Sendek is always lauded by the media as being a coach that graduated players, but in reality he was just average at doing that.

I like the influx of good pgs to the ACC. Granted that this was a pg-rich year and a lot of school got potential game-changers, but having 4 in the top 50 and 3 of those on tobacco road makes me happy.
Harrow showing up Irving and Marshall would make me even happier. 5/13/2010 7:46:37 PM |

It appears that because of the highly-talented freshman class attending N.C. State next season (C.J. Leslie, Lorenzo Brown and Ryan Harrow), Mabry is concerned about potential playing time. Last week, Mabry said he was going to speak with N.C. State associate head coach Monte Towe regarding the transfer of sophomore guard Julius Mays, but that conversation never took place and Mays is still listed on the Wolfpack’s active roster." |

^I don't think that's anything to get upset about. If State offers, he'll accept it. I imagine he doesn't want the other schools to back off thinking he's a lock to State, just in case something happens and he can't come here.
Why is the Mays transfer taking so long? Also, I hope Julius realizes his talent level and transfers somewhere like the Southern Conference, etc. He can be a major player, maybe even a superstar, at a school like Samford. If he transfers somewhere like Illinois or Northwestern then it'll be no different than it is here. 5/14/2010 7:50:58 PM |
