It was a topic posted by a vegetarian about protein and how someone told them you didn't need to worry about eating enough because your body would make its own. Other people were talking about amino acids and things, then this girl busts in with the fact that apparently all you need is air and bacteria. I leave food out for my cat at all times, and she is still super skinny. She's never been one to scarf down a bunch of food, but she actually throws a tantrum now when I don't give her canned food.

Normal cats can handle free feeding and not be fatties. But apparently when they have been starved ever they go into food crazy mode and will eat as much as they can as long as there is food in front of them. I hoped my cat would adjust to realizing there is always going to be food (OK except for like an hour when we haven't realized it's empty yet) and chill out on the eating, but he hasn't. I did have him on a diet last year and he lost weight, but he was miserable all the time.
