The A1 is a definite upgrade. Metal parts where there is plastic, and the sights are standard.

My shotgun is a 590 Mariner. Thought I was getting an A1 at a great price, then figured out it was a standard at normal price. Oh well, still like it.

I believe I can only get the 930 combo with synthetic furniture.

So if I get one ill get the regular ol 930 with 28 inch barrel and order the 18.5 separately.

On the other hand some of my ammo is 'low recoil' and thats probably not gonna cut it.

my SBEII doesn't have any problems cycling 1 ounce shells. if you want to shoot 7/8oz loads at clays, get an over-under.

I would think the Benelli is sensitive to throw weight since its a recoil system and not gas operated?

I had an M2 for awhile.

You could have low recoil shells that still produced an acceptable amount of gas though. I think the velocity of the load would be more indicative of this?

Maybe im just talking out of my ass.

the original recoil-operated semi-auto shotgun, the Auto 5, has no problem with light loads if you follow the directions.

The Browning A5 is the worst shotgun I have ever shot. Twice the recoil of any pump I have ever used.

I nearly got shot four yrs ago in Raleigh. I was in my bedroom. The bullet was about 4 meters away, penetrating my quilt on the bed. Damn! US is like a battlefield.

That is interesting. I thought the one I shot was fantastic. Give me a BPS an A5 and a Cynergy and I'll never have to buy another shotgun for as long as I live.

I sent off my CMP order for a HRA SG and a box of ammo the second week of February. I got the ammo last week, and the rifle finally showed up today. Serial indicates it's a 1954 manufacture.

I think I'm gonna put an Eotech XPS2 on that Del-Ton I just bought.

Any supporting/dissenting views?

Not gonna put a big scope on it; it's a lightweight carbine. I have a stripped lower I want to build for accuracy, probably chambered in 6.5 Grendel.

[Edited on June 25, 2013 at 10:06 AM. Reason : i'd be open to something smaller and lighter than the Eotech, even.]

I run a XPS2 on my AR and have had not problems with it. It is on its third battery in two years though.
Also, with polarized glasses, the reticle disappears (or starts to) when viewed more than 30 degrees off axis. I have beat the crap out of it, and it works like a champ. My only real complaint is the on/off and adjustment is not a simple knob, and that is a minor thing.

I have a T-1 on my second AR with an absolute co-witness riser. It is on its second battery in 4 years.

Even though I have run both very hard, I don't really have a preference (very slight edge to aimpoint micro), and have not had problems with either one.

The Double Tap 125gr +p load is usually cheaper than Speer's loads...also about 150 fps faster according to chronographed tests on the net.

^^We take the boat to a elevated "pit" behind my parents house in Wrightsville on the sound side of the beach. Its this huge sand bowl that is the size of 3-4 football fields. Shoot skeet and .22's. We asked the Coast Guard if it was legal and they said they didnt care, although they didnt give us a straight answer either

decided I want a S&W Governor ...
- place in downtown cary has em for 700
- fuquay gun doesn't have any but cost 640 when they have em
- north raleigh guns says 600 but doubts he'll have any for months
- ed's guns says 650 and has one left

any good places to order online? i'm new to the pistol industry and i'm not sure. if it's been said more than 3 pages ago then I didn't find it so please don't troll and just link a good website. I checked a few pages back and only found stocks/accessories/ammo webpages.

if not a webpage, any other local dealers that sell em better than 650?

man, someday when ammo becomes readily available again, I'm gonna stockpile a shitload of it--like a few thousand rounds in every caliber that I own...and then I'm going to start stockpiling reloading supplies on top of that.

Fuck this business of having to be mindful of how much ammo I have remaining when I go to the range. I mean, I have probably a couple hundred rounds for each of my pistols, and maybe 400 or so for my AR, so I'm OK, as long as I keep my eyes open and continue to buy every box of ammo I see (at normal prices), but I don't like having to worry about it. This shit has happened twice now within a few years (although I was in Iraq for a lot of the shortage in '08-09); I expect that this is now the "new normal". As soon as ammo gets cheaply and widely available again, I'm gonna get ready for the inevitable next shortage in a big way.

^ yeah. I wished I stocked up on .40 ammo. I got that .22lr just before shit hit the fan... I was gonna order 10k, but thought 5k would be good enough for the time being...

Budsguns has M38 mosins for $245 shipped (cash/money order). I dont' know if they are matching numbers, but if they are indeed excellent shape as described, this isn't a bad deal.

If anyone is looking to part with some extra 9mm ammo for $. PM me. ^I think the ammo will level out at low inventory in the next year or two. I just enjoy range time. I've never stockpiled.

I guess it was partly that I missed most (and probably the worst) of the previous ammo shortage due to being in Iraq for the first 5-6 months after President Obama was elected, and partly that I thought it was just a bizarre, freak anomaly.

(as opposed to a bizarre, freak new normalcy).

...but yeah, across all calibers, I'll probably put away ~10k rounds, haha, and then some reloading components to make some more.

Kinda why I'd like to find a psl now. The 7.62x54 vepr is awesome but single stack.

I want to put away a few of those perfectly preserving spam cans of ammo just to be sure and have something better than a mosin to shoot it from.
