I'm just hoping (?) that my worst fears about his second term are driven largely from my own selective media consumption and perspective and that things won't in practice end up quite that bad. Maybe he could wake up one day and decide to attempt to unite and do some good since he doesn't have to rile up the base to win another election. Or maybe he thrives off the hate. I think I'd want my legacy to draw somewhat more uniform adulation rather than being deified by half the country and reviled by the other, but that's me.

I'm not actually in favor of illegal immigration. It's illegal, after all. I'd rather see effort devoted to fixing the immigration system and working on a palatable guest worker program for the many people from around the world who want to come to this country and work to better their situations and support their families. The problem and the solution are made for each other. Not as interested in large-scale gestapo techniques of rounding up law-abiding people who are already here. I work in a manufacturing company, and we cannot fill open jobs with any quality of worker. The inability to fill necessary jobs that "real Americans" don't want is just going to be magnified by what seem to be the current proposals. We need to streamline the ability to immigrate the legal way.

but like I said, Trumpism isn't the answer. take the good they offer if we have to (which is mostly limited to just being in contrast to the bad parts of the dems - they don't really have much to offer in terms of actual governing philosophy) but recognize the deep, deep flaws (both moral and strictly operational) in their ideology and policy. yes there's a lot of TDS, but a lot of it is well deserved too.

Seriously. I was on a flight once where 3/4 of the flight had service dogs. One shit on the jetway while we were boarding. It was so crazy. I started looking up how to get a service dog and I realized there were all these fake licensing things you could pay for that the airlines would accept. That's why the number of service dogs you see increased.
