theres obi-wan, pushing through with a smile on his face and guile for miles

i mean, there is a reason he's only one of two left...

the movie started off akward, ended very well.

the credits should have started rolling when vadars mask was first put on

the acting was laughable. nadale portman really botched this one. haydem christianson was bad. barely believable

I thought it was ok. I didnt like how Anakin went from the jedi to the dark side. It felt as if they couldnt show how it happened so they just rushed thought it.

The thing about all starwars movies that still confuses me shows up in this movie too. They are in outerspace. There is no gravitational field. Yet when the ship flips around in the movie, they all fall from side to side. I would assume that some other gravitational field would be generated by the ship. But this would mean that the field would be directed in the direction of the ship. Therefore, they should not feel the effect of the ship turning as they do.

The reason you generally bounce around during acceleration is because of inertia, not gravity. The ship changes direction, but you are still going the same way. An Earth example is when you are in the car and lean during turns. This happens because when the car begins its turn, your body is still going straight so you press against the side. Getting pressed back during forwards acceleration is the same thing.

It happens with or without gravity.

^^science wins

I thought the Yoda/Chewbacca interaction was completely unnecessary. But luckily it was played downkey enough that it wasn't grating.

I do want to see a scene now in the Empire-Jedi time with Luke and Chewie talking:
"Shit, you hung out with yoda for a month? I just got tortured at cloud city"

Which ever way the ship is pointing, the gravity field should be perpendicular. In the movies, all of the ships fly the same way. However, they could all fly upside down or sideways and it should not make a difference.

Word on the street is they broke $50 million on the first day, making it the biggest single day box office in history. The midnight shows took in $16.5 million alone.

sure did. Everyone knows newtonian physics. I dont have a problem with the small ships because they are following what you said. However, the large ships which have their own gravity systems should be thought of as the earth. The earth is moving but we all stay put and do not notice it is moving because of gravity. The ship is like the earth. It would hold EVERYTHING in the direction of its gravity field.

even nerdchicks answer doesn't explain why they start to slide. it would if it was a short distance, but they would stop soon

Movies and tv have space battles where all of the ships are oriented in the same plane because it's easier to tell what's going on

Ships in space also don't need to bank when they turn. Movies have them do it anyway because otherwise it would look weird.

Thanks to all who responded to my post... I still think given the fact that we just have to believe that Jedis are spread across the galaxy after the order 66 takes place is still hard to believe. I think Just the fact that Lucus made it so the viewer would have to have seen clone wars to understand who grevious was and why he breathed so heavily, speaks volumes about what the series has become. When we have a star wars tv show in a year and god knows what else maybe we will understand the whole story. But really I will be honest I enjoyed the animated series 10 times better than all 3 new movies. The animated series didnt need Lucus and it defintly showed in the final product.

It didn't seem to be a problem in 1977 when the all those viewers couldn't see the three prequels to understand who Darth Vader was and why he breathed so heavily.

They explained who Grievous was enough to be understood. If you watched Clone Wars, it just made it even cooler.

Who was Grievous in Attack of the Clones?

Great movie, best of the 3 new episodes by far.

Why gripe about them sliding in a ship?

^^I don't think it's known. The origin of Palpatine is supposed to remain a mystery (at least for the time being, who knows what will happen during the series and cartoon) as well as how exactly the Sith managed to survive for years after the Jedi supposedly exterminated them.

people who clap and cheer at movies are gay.

esp. when watching star wars.

oh god, watching natalie portman try to act made me cringe.

hayden christensen (sp?) could be a stand in for one of the brady boys going through puberty.

at least they had obi-wan.

it was better than the first one, but ties with the second one for content. graphics are a bit better.

i had to turn away at some points bc of the acting

someone needs to explain method-acting to them

or maybe they didnt give a shit

or maybe lucas thought shitty acting in the spirit of hamel was tradition

it's hard to act when you're in an empty giant blue room

that's as far as i'll go to defend the acting

even sam jackson had problems

i think ewan finally got used to all the blue, at least better than the rest of them

Quote :

you weren't paying attention to the thin blue thing portman was wearing at one point?

or the blue jedi lady who got killed on the giant flower planet?

i enjoyed this movie ...i let out a giggle when mace windu died (just b/c of an article i read where samuel l jackson asked lucas for his death to be badass), and i got chills when vader's mask was put on and you heard that first breath

and it's all family guy's fault that when the scene of obiwan and anakin fighting on the lava river pans out and you see the waterfall of lava that i started really laughing inside b/c i kept thinking "this fight is going on for awhile...HA! kinda like peter and the chicken"

but i enjoyed it all...definitely the best of the 3 new episodes

"Troops in Iraq get to see new 'Star Wars' film

Stars and Stripes
Mideast edition, Saturday, May 21, 2005

Troops deployed to Iraq were able to see the latest “Star Wars” installment this week.

“Star Wars Episode III — Revenge of the Sith” played at AAFES’ Sustainer theater in Balad, Iraq, on Wednesday.

More than a thousand deployed Star Wars fans saw the long-anticipated premiere of the newest and final episode in the saga. All of the air-conditioned theater’s 740 seats were filled for all three May 18th screenings, AAFES said in a press release Friday.

Fifty VHS copies of “Revenge of the Sith” are currently on their way to Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom locations.

AAFES official Richard Sheff said Friday that it is very unusual for a popular and profitable film like this to be distributed by VHS.

Sheff said that LucasFilms and 20th Century Fox went out of their way to provide the VHS copies to contingency locations.

Actor Dean Cain, who is touring Iraq, also was in the audience for the Operation Iraqi Freedom premiere.

“The troops deserve to see it here in Iraq,” Cain told AAFES. “Seeing the show with them was a surreal experience, especially during the fight scenes when the GIs hoot and holler. I think the troops didn’t seem to like the politics, but Yoda kicked ass.”"

So I just saw the movie last nite and I just laughed the entire and annoyed due to the horrible acting. Holy crap that was just bad. I was disappointed how Grievous wasn't as vicious as he was in the animated series. I thought Anakin submitted to the dark side way too easily. And it is possible for a pregnant woman to run like she did and is it just me but did ya'll notice a big bump in her coffin?? Lastly, I was disappointed w/ the saber duels. It was a good upgrade from Eps. II but too much twisting. They should've hired Ray Park to choreograph the fights. Overall, a 3 / 5 on my scale. Still a pretty good movie.
