if they're doing fire works where they did for the 4th man we may just need to roll a keg into my joint

(they exploded almost directly over head)

but i doubt that... i still think a party at my place would be fun though.

I think a s.c. lawyer might be more helpful.

the best lawyers are in the local good ole boy network thus charges magically disappear.

I'm debating on going to Alley Cats, Ri Ra's, or Hom for new years

what about you?

probably stay near ballantyne in some form or fashion - not going to drink and drive and don't feel like the hassle of taxi's on new years, or trying to mess with the light rail.

it's times like this I wish I lived closer to uptown. I'm mostly happy I don't, though

Going ice skating with the woman in uptown tonight! They have an outdoor rink in a park. Can we try to be more like NYC?

that park is getting demolished soon so they'll have to find someplace new for it next year.

oddly the name of the place they're building on it is called Brooklyn Villiage.

so still trying to be like nyc.

hey... how about a subway fellas that would be nice.

It's called brooklyn village in reference for teh neighborhood that was torn down in le corbusian urban renewal a few decades ago. I would assume the original neighborhood was named this in reference to NY, however.

Does anyone in Charlotte have a truck? I may be looking to purchase a new couch + chair/ottoman off of Craigslist and may be renting a truck from Home Depot/Lowe's to haul the stuff.

I would much rather pay someone off here for their gas and time instead of renting a truck from a store, though.

I'd potentially be looking to do this either Sat or Sunday, or even Friday night if it fit your schedule - I'm checking things out tonight.

I could fit the ottoman in my car for sure, and perhaps the chair as well depending on dimensions. I just can't fit the couch!

Quote :
"CHARLOTTE --

The body of the Georgia hiker, Meredith Emerson, was found Monday after Gary Hilton led police to her.

Now, authorities are examining connections between Hilton and other cases such as a missing woman in Florida, a missing couple in the North Carolina Mountains and a missing 24-year-old from Charlotte, Kyle Fleischmann.

We spoke with Kyle's father who says the family asked cops to take a look at a possible connection between the cases. Now, CMPD investigators are examining the information to find any possible leads for Kyle's case. That “possible link” is the white van that Hilton drove and a random phone call from a psychic to Kyle's dad. Dick Fleischmann says, “She had told me that she imaged Kyle in a white large vehicle, possibly a SUV type and that it was very clear to her.” Fleischmann says that if anything is found in Hilton's white van, there’s DNA for Kyle in a national database that would identify a link.

Now, police need your help, if you were downtown the night of Kyle's disappearance, November 9th and you saw a white van, please call crime stoppers."

so what does everybody think of the light rail? its pretty nice to shoot downtown and get some dinner or drinks or whatever, but i wish the last train left after 1:15 or whenever it stops running...need to stop service at like 3am or somethin

also those tall lights outside 7th street station and some other stations that you can hit and they light up and some noise plays out of the speaker are the shit

As for the light rail, I think it definitely needs to run later. You can't close down a bar and still get a train, and really, what's the difference between 115 and 215?

Other than using it to take a group uptown for drinking or a game though, it really has limited use. I can walk to the station, but driving is so easy and cheap in this city there's no motivation for me to take it otherwise.

Parking at 7th St. is only 5 bucks most nights, maybe 10 for games and events. So it's not really cheaper taking the train, or faster....so why take it?
