Beck made plays when it counted, Evans didn't. End of story. I will bet you $100 right now that Evans doesn't see another start and will be damn lucky to get any mop-up duties if/when needed.

As others have said, at least Beck TOOK shots down the field. There's a reason the running game opened up in the second half -- the UCF safeties had to honor the deep ball. With Evans, they were playing 6-8 yards from the LOS.
Beck is far from perfect, but DAMN it's good to see a QB stand up strong in the pocket and find the open man while under pressure. Sharp contrast to the Evans "duck and roll" technique (not to mention the Stone tuck-and-run philosophy).
And your either blind or retarded if you think Evan's arm is stronger than Beck's. Nothing against Evans, but Beck has one of the stronger arms I've seen on the college level.9/1/2007 11:02:48 PM |

One thing I liked was TOB made the entire team stay on the field and listen to the band play the Alma Mater after the game ended. I've got a lot of respect for him for even acknowledging what we do, which is more than I can say for the chest
I also liked how we actually made adjustments that worked between halves instead of running the same old bullshit that never worked in the first place like most of last year. I still have some hope for this season after seeing how TOB and his staff changed things up leading to a 20 pt half.
But that was some nc state shit right there. 9/1/2007 11:25:30 PM |

Our O-line and D-line is what lost us this game in the 1st half. No protection for Evans and blocking for a running game. Also, they ran ALL over us in the 1st half. Our O-line and D-line coaches better get this shit fixed asap. Overall, despite the loss, we showed what we are capable of. It was fun seeing CF alive and excited.

I was actually pretty damn impressed with the game.
The adjustments made at halftime were quite simply stunning.
0 points allowed in the second half, the defense showed up BIG TIME after halftime, bunkered down and showed how a 1A defense should operate.
Beck at quarterback absolutely changed the look of our offense. We can run respectably and still have the deep threat with a good head on the QB. Yea we lost, but lets be honest, this is going to be a 7-5 season at BEST. I'm all about watching us build this year and see the changes of TOB start to really take hold with the players. 9/1/2007 11:40:09 PM |

It was nice to see at least *most* of the student section understand being quiet on offense. The hand sign was a nice touch, too. Most of the people who were still being loud on offense caught on when they saw the hand wolf signs later in the game. 9/1/2007 11:40:34 PM |

Also did you notive how many stupid penalties we had? Not many. And no meathead facemask/unsportsmanlike calls. A couple of holding, a couple of false starts and a couple of substitution infractions.
I'm fine with the offense penalities, it's a new, young line and they are learning the ropes. Just a joy not to see 100+ penalty yards, for the first time in years it seems. 9/1/2007 11:45:37 PM |

Overall the fans cheered smart tonight.
The TD to start the game for UCF sucked out all of our emotion, but we were extra loud on all 3rd downs, and when inspired the the 2nd half, we never let up.
Only point of improvement is to be a little bit more quiet while we are on offense. I know the comeback attempt was crazy, but we were WAYYYY too loud while we were in the huddles.
The band and the cheer leaders kept getting the students all loud too often while we were in the huddles. I'm not hating on the band, b/c you guys are awesome. Just saying...
Also, we had 10 penalties for 67 yards... i will be expecting a TOB coached team to fix this.

The problem with Evans in this game in particular is that the coaches kept bootlegging him, so standing tall in the pocket wasn't even an option.
(Not that I really think he would have, but it'd have been nice if he ever got to stay in the pocket)
Meanwhile, it's really nice that we were able to pull a moral victory our of this, but our DBs got burned every single time down the field and the inaccuracy of their QB was our only saving grace. If we have any chance against Boston College, it's going to have to be a shootout.
Also, Bowens is awesome.

^why? When you have to have your qb to make a block in the play....you've called the wrong play.
Coaching lost this game. Its that simple.
And like another poster said, the long ball HELPED this team. It loosens coverage and opens up underneath. The fact that we had someone willing to air one out...several times.. was refreshing. 9/2/2007 9:59:07 AM |

You can go in any entrance without having to do a bunch of shit, students have to get hands/tickets stamped (with a section) and have 2 small entrances were the line is around 45 minutes or more to get in.9/2/2007 10:03:57 AM |

the students filed into sections 7 and 8 and only filled in the other sections when they closed 7 and 8
there's nothing wrong with the other sections and there's no excuse for them to not even have one person in them midway through the 1st quarter
all around GA is a bad idea for student tickets

A good QB makes that block
Philip Rivers makes that block
Tony Romo makes that block
Brett Favre makes that block

Very true about our DB's getting roasted in the second half (THANK GOD UCF'S QUARTERBACK SUCKED ASS). Ryan will eat us alive next week if the coverage doesn't tighten up. Having said that, I don't think BC will be able to run the ball as easy as UCF did, so hopefully we can drop our safeties deep. If not, look the fuck out.
And Jimmy Sutton showed why he's now number three on the depth chart. The guy has talent, he just rarely uses it. 9/2/2007 10:19:58 AM |

sure if you get to the gate right at kickoff the line might be a little longer, but i doubt 45 minutes. on the few occasions i have encountered a line, it has never taken me more than about 15 minutes to get in, normally you can just walk right in. it's very simple . . . don't wait until the last minute.9/2/2007 10:36:04 AM |

That PF wasn't so bad in my opinion. He was blocking the guy pretty hard and it looked to me he might not have heard the whistle or something. I saw it happened and said to my buddies "He better be careful with...ahhh hell, he got a flag for that". It wasn't a terrible just blatantly shoving a guy well after a play or whatever type of PF. ^um, having been to almost every home game for the last 8 years, the line is stupid as fuck now.
Two gates for 1/2 the attendees, with much tighter security than in years past, + hand stamps + scanners. We got to the gates 10 minutes before kickoff and it took 20-30 minutes to get through the gates.
Then another 10 minutes to get a seat, having to go from section to section being told they were full and to try the next one. Hand stamps were worthless.
But its free, so I really dont give a damn 9/2/2007 10:49:00 AM |
