^^ he actually didn't really hang on the rim there. When I saw him going I thought he was going to have to in order to not faceplant... but he somehow really didn't.

"east coast bias" is the most bullshit thing ever. these ucla fans on gameday that are complaining about it need to check their recent history statistics. recent champions:

2007: Florida
2006: Florida
2005: UNC
2004: UCONN
2003: Syracuse
2002: Maryland
2001: Duke

congratulations, you won a bunch of titles in the 70's, but the last 7 champions have come from a state bordering the atlantic ocean. also, 8 of the last 9 and 11 of the last 17. that only includes states that actually border the ocean, a vast minority. in fact, since 1991, only 2 times has a team from west of the mississippi won the national title. if you want more media recognitions, start winning championships before screaming "east coast bias."

^x8 yeah I laughed the first time I heard them chant it b/c I thought it was funny. Then it just got annoying. The bottom line is that the best basketball is played in the east. It's been that way for a long time. Even when UCLA was dominating, the best basketball overall was still being played in the east. With great conferences like the ACC and Big East, and the SEC getting better in recent years, there's just no way you can actually claim that there is an east coast bias.

Have you ever noticed that the conferences generally have a typical style of play? I'm not talking about offenses, b/c there are a lot of different offenses being used in these conferences. I'm talking about like the Big East is a very gritty, physical conference. This comes from players that have been hardened on the rough courts of the Northeast like those found in NYC and Philadelphia. The ACC is dominated by fast and strong athletes that have finesse in their game. The Big Ten has the typical mid-western big bodied players that are slow, but strong. This lends to a lot of banging for rebounds, but they all are generally decent shooters. The Pac-10 generally has a lot of run-and-gun elements and just ok defenses, lending to an up and down kind of game and not as much physical play.

I don't really think it can be seen as big as the difference between say the SEC and Big Ten in football, but there does seem to be a difference.

UTEP keeping it close against Memphis...

if they win, we could see #1 Duke vs #2 UNC next week, assuming both teams win this weekend

in other college basketball news. Rider is in total control against Siena. We need them to win the MAAC to make our record look good. There's 8 minutes left in the game.

Did Paulus even get hit on that "elbow to the nose?" If he did, it was a graze. Damn Henderson and Nelson can get up QUICK!n
