Why? Don't most countries shit on this tournament? Maybe I'm off base but from what I remember it isn't a priority for most national teams...

shit you could have 30 shots but if more than half arent on frame and the ones that are are right at the keeper than that doesnt do you any good either. turkey did not dominate that entire game by any stretch of the mind. the one thing turkey did do was dominate lahm's side and showed that the towering german backs arent the greatest at defending in the run of play(but are masterminds at defending set pieces).

both goals turkey scored were from germany mistakes...which is rare in itself, so you could argue that turkey were lucky to be tied so late in the game. im not dissing turkey, but i honestly think the better team advanced.

the better team or the team who played better advanced? I think Germany is the better team, but they definitely did not play better. Do you even remember more than one German attack that did not result in a goal? well actually that is a compliment to Germany I guess, considering both Portugal and turkey hit tons of shots that did not do any good, and in the end germany scored 6 goals against the two by perfect executions and patience

They don't care... and most fans don't give a shit either. I consider myself a pretty serious soccer fan and the ONLY thing I can recall about any of these tournaments is the Roberto Carlos free kick against France in 98... and that was only from seeing all the highlights, not watching the game

I mean, I guess it's a benefit to get down to some of the venues and get used to the climate or whatever earlier than you would if you weren't playing in the tournament but the games aren't worth a crap because who's going to go 100% in a meaningless game just days before the World Cup. For that matter, who's going to go 50%

this game has for the most part sucked...russia are definitely worried about spains offense, but with david villa gone, and torres having a shitty tournament so far, i dont see why russia wont attack now...

srsly, for anyone who has tripped or been tripped, please tell me, how many times have you gone down with both feet flying behind you as if you know...you are diving?? everytime ive tripped or have been tripped i stumbled, i didnt dive to the ground. thats an obvious tell that the player is ummm, you know, diving. how the refs cant notice that is beyond me...that freekick russia just got was a dive by that player, he barely got touched and went flying

Sometimes a player gets legitimately fouled but they think they can still get to the ball even though they can't so they decide to go down. This results in the stupid looking dives even though technically there's a foul.

Sometimes they just straight dive though and there is no foul.

Fabregas

Very happy with this. I wanted Holland to win it all, but these two are my favorite countries that I've visited, and I like watching them play, so this is probably the best thing possible with Holland out.

Now it will either be Germany, or Spain in the Confederations Cup. This will be an exciting tournament for the USA if we play good and take a good squad.

^I know the big teams take B squads, but those are still good teams. We won't take our A squad either, so it will be equal for everyone. Beating Brazil will still be a pretty good feat if it happens.

didnt brazil bring romario over one confed cup back late 90s early 2000s?? and kasey keller denied him time after time the entire game...or was that a friendly?

ahh, googled it, it was a gold cup match, the US's only victory over brazil.

Not only does no one take it seriously, everyone hates it. It's usually way too hot and the players would rather be taking a break from the game, especially since they're playing for a meaningless title.

1-0 Spain. 33' goal by Torres. He straight PUNKED Lahm and Lehmann.
