This is a shitfest of a game. I feel like every team outside the state of Florida sucks this year.

Tennessee's defense held them back pretty well last year, too

and we all saw how that season turned out.

^^
If miami wins the next two games then they'll likely face the fsu/ncsu winner with a trip to the national championship game at stake. Watchout for FSU to knock of Florida if they're still around at that point. Tebow should wear down and FSU's man to man d might be just the trick to slow him down. If nobody comes out of the SEC unbeaten (as I expect) then Miami could realistically be the team that beats Texas for the championship.

Why shouldn't they be #5? They've beaten two teams that are ranked when they played them. If they had started out ranked say #10 due to preseason hype, there's no doubt they'd be #5, if not higher.

they are in the ACC for one and are still, essentially, the same team as last year added in some freshmen.

They are no where near top 10

This is the same team that gave up 470+ rushing yards to GT last year?

Saying this is "essentially the same team" plus some freshman is kind of ignorant.

I'm not saying they necessarily deserve number five, or that they're Nat'l Championship contenders, but this team appears to be light years ahead of the 2008 Miami Hurricanes. And a number of things contribute to this improvement, which I guess you're ignoring, and that's fine. I hope everyone else is as doubtful, and that the players stay hongry.

you simply can't deny at least a top fifteen spot to a team that said "fuck scheduling cupcakes early" and beat two ranked opponents in two games, both nationally televised, one in an incredibly decisive manner.

Last year doesn't matter. They're 2-0 and have beaten two ranked opponents. Like I said, if they were ranked preseason then they'd easily be in the top 5.

keep in mind this is the same retarded troll who believes the transitive property applies to sports (even though he/she doesn't even understand it) and thinks that the Mitsubishi Eclipse is the pinnacle of Japanese engineering.

you are ignorant and don't understand the variation of the transitive property that applies to sports.

If team A beats team B and team B beats team C it doesn't mean team A would beat team C. (Thats elementary and I'm sorry if thats as far as your mind can take it). It just means that its possible. Also transitive property HAS to be used in college football when you have 12 games to determine everything. Every voter uses the transitive property at the end of the year to untangle log jams of teams with the same record. Computer polls have complex variations of the transitive property built into them.

Has anyone seen Cincy play yet this year? They are CFN's pick to play in the NC game. A lot of that has to do with playing in arguably the worst BCS conference (though I think the ACC and Big 10 -- regardless of Sagarin rating -- are on par) but they seem to have a dynamic offense.

Too bad Ohio State is afraid to play them after being tied after 3 qtrs a few years back...

They are not CFN's pick, they are one writer who likes to always go out on a limb's pick.

Fuitak is a great and hilarious writer (their Bill Simmons) but picks the random underdog a lot for shock value.

Its an example of a smaller site trying to get readers

A texas fan will see it, email their friend like "look at this asshole", he'll email more people, etc, etc, etc

If they picked Florida/Texas, they wouldn't stand out

Not Lord of the Lines.

Anyway, have you seen them play? I haven't and I'm wondering what they look like.

CFN isn't no name, but they still get trounced in the click count I'm sure by the likes of ESPN, SI, Sportsline, Yahoo, etc

And I've seen two of their games, first the Labor Day Raping of Rutgers, and last week at Oregon State

They're a good team, but only fringe top 10 from a talent level, if that

Getting to the NC game would be more about luck and circumstances than a true measure of their caliber

but then again, isn't it always ?

That's not what it means at all, that's your retarded interpretation of it...if all it means is that it's possible for team A to beat team C then it's MEANINGLESS since we all already knew it was POSSIBLE for team A to beat team C anyways.

That is hilarious, and I'm sure it's the truth because there isn't such a thing as Strength of Schedule to differentiate teams with the same record.

I know you're trolling and everything but it's a pretty pathetic attempt at trolling. You should probably stop embarrassing yourself now.

As far as Cincy is conerned, I would hope they would get jumped by a 1 loss team from either the Big 12 or the SEC because they would probably embarrass themselves in the NC game.

You don't understand SOS either because its all related. If Miami beat florida state and florida state beats byu who beat oklahoma...GUESS HOW THAT EFFECTS MIAMIS SOS? sos is everchanging depending on what the teams you've played do.

Go back to my original statement. I have never said Team A beat team B who beat team C so team A is better than Team C. Never. Anywhere. So for you to accuse me of believing in transitive property means you had to either

A. think I said something that I didn't say
B. think something I said was a variation of the transitive property

Which is it?

South Cacky vs. Manning U

from a strictly NCSU standpoint, we want USC to win...it'd be nice if our only loss was to a team that beat an (overrated) top 5 team
