A non traditional match-up of a decent mid-major with a shot to beat a traditional giant of the sport. Mostly, just something different that could be entertaining.

of the 3 new games you mentioned, I think only mich/psu is at all compelling. Other two are games b/w .50 teams that also have no bearing on conf races. Mich is only compelling bc of robinson. Rivalry/tradition doesn't save fla/uga, can't figure out why tul/nd is even an option.

my $.02

yeah, Florida/UGA should definitely be on there... always an entertaining game, two big rivals, very intriguing spread, teams have gone in completely different directions since the start of the year, winner still has a shot at the East if South Carolina slips, which they always do

Historically (I use the term lightly since this is only our second season of doing this) we have gone with nationally televised games.

The all-ranked games (MSU/Iowa, Miz/Neb) should be a given.

The other two games should come from the following based on rankings and coverage, with my votes in bold:

FSU/NCSU
UF/UGA
Oregon/USC
OSU/Minn

This would give us one matchup from each of the SEC, Big-10, Big-12, and Pac-10.

ya def not ohio state/minn, i would rather have penn state/mich

but jaybee's sec affiliation's paint his desire for florida/uga. why not replace that w/ a non-bcs conf game for once? we always pick major conference matchups, why not make us step out of comfort zones and pick games we dont know as well?

Let Jaybee1200 pick this weeks games, and then rotate it each week with someone who hasn't done it yet. Ribs still has final say so on all other controversies like spread discrepancies, etc..

What say you?

At least the NFL matchups are good this week. Ind/Tex, Pitt/NOLA, and I'm assuming/hoping the day game will be either Packers/Jets or Vikings/Pats

My wildcards:
Clemson (-6.5) at Boston College
Redskins at Lions (-2)
Panthers at Rams o36

just my opinion, but in addition to MNF and SNF, I think we should do Thursday night college ball, IF its two D1-A opponents...but thats just me

Thursday presents a problem because half the people don't make their picks till Friday and have to scramble and make "oh shit" picks for the Thursday games.

When the NFL starts Thursday games in a few weeks, we'll have to reevaluate.

^^ Granted, last week and this week could have been on the card, but rarely is the Thursday game good enough to deserve a pick.

You don't want to potentially sacrifice a game of national importance for USF/West Virginia.

ribs, do you not use opening lines? Seems like using lines that have already moved for the common picks is a little weird. I saw your lines and was going to ask how uga -3 was intriguing, then I saw it opened at -1.5.

I don't use opening lines. I use the number that's there after the line settles.

It's unrealistic to use opening lines because no one can actually get that number with a book. I'd rather us handicap lines that the actual public has to bet against instead of the number that .06% of all the bettors out there actually get. Just my opinion.

Ribs, how bout doing separate columns for each user's record in college vs NFL, day games, night games, and games on ESPN, CBS, FOX, NBC or Versus.

Thanks, you're doing a great job.

I actually did consider going back to see how people did on College vs NFL handicapping. That might be something for offseason boredom though.

You should go ahead and confirm your invite into the basketball challenge.

You're right, sorry about the miscalculation.

In the future, if everyone would repost their picks at week's end with a W or L out beside them it would make it a whole lot easier to update the standings.
