What? There have been six goalies in the ASG since 1992. Considering that roughly 70-80 goaltenders appear in NHL games every season, I think the top six is pretty elite company. I won't dispute that Ward got a little home cookin' to get in the lineup this year, but there's no doubt that he's in the upper echelon of the league's goalies.

You're listing GAA here without the decimal, not goals allowed. GAA is generally a team statistic, especially on mediocre teams. On top of that, if you look at the most important statistic for goaltenders, wins, Ward has been in the top five in the league in his last two full campaigns.

^Yea, I was actually talking with a co-worker about the 6 goalie thing, I still think it should be 4. Professional all-star games are a complete joke. It should be the best players, not a fan voting contest. And quite frankly there should be a decent enough prize that the players actually play hard to win.

The fan votes only count for the first three forwards, two defensemen, and a goaltender. The other 40 players are picked by the league GMs.

As for playing hard, no prize you could give is worth risking injury to your team's most valuable player in an exhibition game.
