Ha, I was getting ready to bring this thread up earlier today to say "It's June, why the fuck hasn't he picked a team yet if he's supposedly ready to play in June". Good luck to UW if they think they are going to get a commitment out of him by the end of the month

Well, he isn't going to the SEC. They just voted to ban grad student exception transfers.

Rule won't take effect until October.

i think Dan Patrick might be about to talk about RW's situation in the next 10 min or so

teased something about a star football/baseball player's dilemma...can't think of any others that would fit

It's from twitter but -

@LincolnNBC12 - Matt Lincoln
Just spoke to Russell Wilson's mother - he says Wilson HAS NOT told Wisconsin that he is going there yet. #Wisconsin #Badgers #NCState

Also, http://denver.sbnation.com/colorado-rockies/2011/6/8/2214478/russell-wilson-transfer-wisconsin-football-rockies

Quote :
"After a month of speculation and even a visit to Auburn, Colorado Rockies minor league infielder Russell Wilson will play college football this fall for the Wisconsin Badgers in the newly-constituted 12-team Big Ten Conference, according to NBC Sports' Keith Arnold. He has this one year remaining to play college football.

Wilson was a two-sport athlete in baseball and football for the N.C. State Wolfpack, being drafted by the Rockies in teh fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He played during the summer for the Rockies short-season Tri-City Dust Devils before returning to N.C. State for his redshirt junior year as the Wolfpack starting quarterback. Wilson was honored during Senior Day because it was believed that he was going to give up football to concentrate fully on baseball.

For a time that seemed true, but Wilson got off to a slow start and has yet to find any consistency. He is hitting .212/.367/.305 in 49 games for the Low-A Asheville Tourists so far in 2011. Wilson wanted to return to the Wolfpack, but he was not going to be handed the starting QB's job, which led him to ask for a transfer release.

And so he finally settled on Wisconsin, a school that was lacking in experienced quarterbacks. He will leave the Rockies by the end of July to start August camp with the Bagers and work in a new offense. His future in baseball will likely be up in the air.

UPDATE: And only minutes later, a new report surfaced that Wilson has not settled on Wisconsin yet. Stay tuned."

I won't believe any media on his decision(s) until the Colorado Rockies confirm/approve the report. They hold all the cards - and TOB knew this.

I wouldn't mind seeing russell lead Wisc to the big 12 10 champ...I'd be much better if we did well of course, but i'd like to see him succeed...Plus the gf is a msu alum, and it'd add a little something extra to that game, especially since Wisc went to the rose bowl over msu last year even though they had the same record and msu won the head to head.

i wouldn't be totally surprised if he quit baseball based on how hard he's been pursuing this, and if the rockies let him play football another season w/o taking their money back and cutting him they should be kicked out of major league baseball.

then again, this is the same franchise that has skipped drafting top players b/c they aren't christian enough for their locker room, so who knows what they'll do.

The rangers wasted draft picks on paralyzed players from georgia just as a salute. theres so many picks and so many players one single a player is no big deal.

Bob Davie made a great point...

essentially that RW is no longer at State because he couldn't commit to the football team, so his biggest challenge going to a new team for one year will be earning the respect of his teammates and all that jazz

I'm glad that point was made. Last time I heard about RW on College FB Live, all the announcers were in amazement that NCSU would simply let him go and didn't bother to address any of the actual issues.

i don't see that being a real big challenge for a few reasons.

1.) he's not a giant egotistical douchebag
2.) he's pretty dang good
3.) he works hard

you forgot 4.) He wasn't there for spring practice and as of June 9th, hasn't committed to a team. Some players who've been working their asses off might not respect that.

Nick Toon on Russell Wilson: "Everybody wants him here"

Quote :
"MADISON (WKOW) -- Badger Nation continues to wait for Russell Wilson to decide whether to play football at Wisconsin next year.

The former NC State quarterback is eligible to play anywhere he'd like, and Wisconsin and Auburn appear to be the frontrunners to land Wilson.

27 Sports caught up with UW receiver Nick Toon on Friday to hear his thoughts on the possibility of adding Wilson to the squad:

"Obviously, whenever you can bring in someone of his caliber, it's going to add some competition at the quarterback spot and competition brings out the best in everybody and that's great. Hopefully he comes here," said Toon. "I met him last week and he seems like a great guy; I like him a lot. Hopefully we can see him in a Wisconsin uniform this fall."

Toon "couldn't say one way or the other" whether Wilson was leaning toward committing to the Badgers, but said "everybody here wants him [at Wisconsin].""
