We had plenty of chances to play our way into an ACC title and a national seed. We could have made this an easy call for the NCAA, but we couldn't get it done. Now we have a tougher, but still manageable path the get to Omaha. Just have to get it done on the field.

yeah we had plenty of chances to play into a national seed, but FSU had chances to play out of it and they did, 0-3 in the ACC, lost to unc last week, just complete NC State shit.
FSU didn't deserve it. They had a half game on us to win the division and we had a half game better record in overall season. Then we went 2-1 in acc with it taking the (no doubt) number 1 team in the nation 18 innings and multiple errors and screw ups by us to get it done. Ridiculous.

I have no idea... I have a ton of shit to do this weekend so i can only make one game, therefore I wanted to try and make it the rodon game.

In FSU's defense they also beat us straight up in a series less than a month ago. But there's no way they should have been in over us. If anything it should have been 4 seeds, or us uva and unc.

I've been impressed with Avent's recruiting recently, but overall it's not like he hasn't had enough time to do more than a couple Super Regional appearances. If he cannot get to Omaha this year, it might be best for him to hit the road.

Yeah I would not imagine he'd walk out on a top 10 team next year, but saying that he has done well with what he's had makes no sense. He is in charge of getting players into the program so its his fault if the players are not very talented. Knowing State's luck, Avent will bolt and turn whatever team he takes over into a multiple national champion

No way he leaves unless we really, really screw up this weekend. Avent's had some big recruits before, but they've normally opted for the MLB minor leagues. The team needs to do well this postseason and next year in order to position State to keep getting guys like Rodon, Turner, Austin, etc. If that happens and the recruiting stays strong then the program keeps growing and we may have some stadium upgrades/expansion in the future.

However if we pull some NC State shit, like if we don't live up to expectations this year and/or next year, then I don't think anyone would mind looking at a new coach and you know Yow would want her own guy as soon as possible if that happened.

Not saying we wouldn't, but it'd be pretty bad strategy to "save" Rodon for Sunday, not to mention we're probably trying to line him up for a (potential) Saturday super regional start. Going 2-0 in this format is critical because that gives us two chances to win one more game, the first of which would be our opponent's second of the day (and they'd presumably have a thin bullpen for both).

Assuming we win tonight but lose tomorrow, we have to win three in a row, including back-to-back games Sunday.
