Closing a loophole vs raising a tax rate is a distinction without a difference. They are just two different accounting gimmicks aimed at getting more tax dollars. Sometimes you just can't close a "loophole" that a rich person has access to, so it's easier to just jack up the tax rate.

^^well, a fair share isn't what amounts to a something barely above a 15% tax rate for many of the rich. Fair isn't a 30% tax rate on a working family with an income utilization >80% while the "tax rate" of 35% (and really, probably closer to 15%) on a millionaire family with an income utilization <50%.

This isn't a huge deal but it's another dumb mistake from someone who should be a better politician and more aware of the stuff she says and how she comes across.

It's no wonder she's made so few public appearances and non fundraiser speeches. Between this and her less than stellar showing on the commander and chief forum she's actually managed to have a worse week publicly than Trump who actually did substantially worse on that same forum.

Huh? How is this a mistake or comparable at all to what Romney said? Romney said that 47% of Americans were basically beggars looking for handouts from the government, which is laughably inaccurate. Hillary said that half of Trump supporters have negative views towards racial/religious/sexual minorities, which is a fact verified by polling. The only thing wrong is that it's actually more than half when talking about views towards blacks and muslims. She won't lose a single voter because of this and should continue to call out his campaign for giving these people a national platform.

It's fucking hilarious that we always say we want our politicians to give it to us straight, but not when its hurts the feelings of the poor old white racists. Talk about a double standard. Fuck those people, they'll never vote for Hillary anyway so they should all be named and shamed.

I think the official campaign response was the actual mistake. Why muddy the waters? Who cares about these people, they are a segment of our population who should be relegated to the fringe. Kaine's comments on it were perfect in my opinion, no apologies for stating facts. The bottom line is that if you support Trump, you're either a bigot, or you sympathize with bigots which is equally deplorable. Fuck all of them.

It's not factually inaccurate, a big chunk of pro Trump people are horrible. The problem is the way it plays right into the narrative that she looks down on the people she thinks she should rule. When your image is that you're one of the "elite" who hates the little people it's not great optics to shit on people, even ignorant bigots who deserve to be shit on.

She gains nothing by saying it and can only makes her look spiteful. It's just not a great tactical decision. Again, she's making mistakes during this campaign that she shouldn't make given her experience. The only thing I will say is that it is downright disturbing that there was national media covering that Alt-Right convention yesterday like it was a normal event. I mean you had national media retweeting that the speakers were saying Jews could in theory exist in the ethnically pure country but optimally they would all be deported to Israel like it was a fucking presidential presser.

It is absolutely only happening because of Trump and the need for the media to play "both sides" in order to try and look unbiased. That kind of stuff does deserve to be called out.

Pretty much. I honestly don't see how anyone could be an undecided voter right now feeling like they can't choose between Clinton or Trump. I'm sure some of these people exist, but so far I haven't encountered any. Most people I've met that haven't picked between Clinton/Trump are either abstaining or going third party.
