U just don't want the 8-9 seed and I think (without jinxing us) we are clear of the Tuesday playing 10-15 seeds. Wouldn't it be nice to only play Thursday, Friday, and pray for Saturday? Looks more like a Wednesday, Thursday, and pray for Friday scenario.

On the Joe and Adam show today on the way home they were having people call in and sum up The NC State ball team. Heard several good ones: brainwashed (to believe we can't win the big games in tight situations), quicksand(because you are supposed to stay calm to get out but we go crazy and make it worse). It was good to hear I was not alone in my continual disappointment.

Can someone with ESPN insider tell me where we are on this list: http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/12237095/jay-bilas-john-gasaway-rank-top-68-teams-college-hoops-college-basketball

38. NC State Wolfpack

Beejay Anya may be the best rim-protector in the ACC, and Kyle Washington's fast becoming a reliable scorer in the paint. But Mark Gottfried's group needs to do a better job on the glass at both ends of the floor. -- John Gasaway

And if you want to feel terrible:

12. North Carolina Tar Heels

All things considered, Roy Williams may have the best interior scoring team in the country. (I see you, Kentucky, but unlike UNC you shoot a fair number of 3s -- and quite well, I might add.) Kennedy Meeks and Brice Johnson attack the rim and clean up any misses. That plus Marcus Paige's timely perimeter shooting makes Carolina tough to guard. -- John Gasaway

But I think this ranking really shows what the worth of this list is:

30. Davidson Wildcats

No Atlantic-10 team shoots anywhere near the number of 3s that Davidson does, and in conference play those tries have been falling 37 percent of the time for the Wildcats. Bob McKillop knows how to coach an offense, and even with Jack Gibbs sidelined this team has just kept on rolling. -- John Gasaway

Oh well NIT here we come.

The few things I have taken away from the last few games is Cat needs to figure out how to become a bit more offensive minded. I am not saying Dez Lee should be starting but at least that kid showed some fire last night and was at least trying to get to the rim. It feels like the coaching staff has told Cat he is gonna become a true PG and he just looks mediocre at doing that job.

Also Turner is just like Scott Wood was for us. If in the first 5 minutes of a game its obvious they have a guy who can stay with him running back and forth on the baseline its time to just take him out. If he isnt getting open and at least getting good looks at 3 he is just taking up space and gets beat quite a bit on defense. It is not Turners fault that they have game planned their defense to him, but Gott needs to recognize this and make the adjustments.

Best seats I have ever had to a State game and that was the shitstorm of a game I got to watch. Very frustrating.

I think this season will go like the last few have gone for us:

- We start off ok, build some optimism. Carolina loses a few early and we laugh at their fans' meltdown
- We lose one or two WTF game in the middle of conference play, lament how awful we are. Meanwhile UNC gets hot and becomes media darlings again
- We win a handful of games late to sneak into the tournament.
- Both us and UNC lose early in the tournament and it's "welp. at least UNC lost too"

It infuriates me that the "double pick along the baseline pass for quick three point shot" play seems to be the only thing our offense knows how to do. I rage when I see our whole team standing around except for two big guys who aren't even setting really good picks and Turner who is trying to run around them fast enough to get the catch and release.

God damnit, people, move around and make some offense.

Probably only because of our RPI and SOS. Our SOS will surely start going down as we play more of the bottom teams in the ACC. And of course if we keep losing to shit teams like Clemson, well...

Maybe he is projecting that by the time the tournament gets here our two most experienced players won't heave full court passes to nobody in crucial moments of games, and therefore finds us worthy of playing to be the 64th best team in the country.

our rpi is high 50s right now which usually is off but the bubble is really weak atm because teams like wofford, davidson, etc are high up and eating up shit conference autobids instead of those slots going to an at large. by the end of the year theyll probably fall out of at large range so we need to start winning games

I still haven't given up on this season, but I'm much more excited for next year. Right now we have 3 freshmen and 4 sophomores getting significant playing time. Turner, Lee, and Staats are the only ones graduating. I don't see any of the others going pro right now. That will translate into next year as a a more experienced team ready to compete.

No matter what happens the rest of the way this season, I'm still in Gott's corner until we see what he can do with those guys next year.

^^^ I feel like losing Turner and gaining Henderson is at least a wash. Henderson was a 11 ppg scorer as a sophomore at WVU, shot the 3 well and was a great FT shooter. Looking forward to seeing him and Lacey in the backcourt as upperclassmen next year.

Losing Cat to some sort of transfer would hurt. He hasn't been great this year, but he's our only PG and has the tools to get better (although the same thing was said after last year).

Henderson is suppose to be a more athletic and better ball handling version of Turner. That will be a slight net-gain in that department. As long as we don't lose anyone else, we should be MUCH better next year just because of the leap the twins and Abu will make.

Just crossing my fingers we don't lose anyone.

I could see us losing Anya. Dude has shown zero progress in two years other than some weight loss. Freeman could go too. I hate to lose either as they both have potential. If Cat can play well like he did today (or even half of the what he did today), there is no reason for him to transfer. A ton of minutes in the ACC at PG. What more could he want?

Anya should be getting more PT. It's absurd he's not. Look what he did against Duke. He is a defensive force.

Anya is an elite shot blocker but not much else. He has no shot and no offensive moves other than dunking. He's also a surprisingly average rebounder for his size.

That said, I think with another offseason of conditioning and work on his offensive game, he could turn into a really solid player.

Anya's biggest issue IMO is his rebounding. He's a force defensively, and is limited offensively but can still put up points every now and then. For a guy his size, with arms as long as his, he is a terrible rebounder. If he could rebound half as well as he blocks shots then he'd likely be starting and we'd live with what he can do offensively.

Freeman's been a big disappointment this year though. He knew his role last year and played it well, but he's been trying to do too much this year when he's on the court and its been hurting him in what he does best - playing solid defense and pulling down rebounds.
