Shocked we got the Belk bowl. Wish I could go, but Ill be in NY. Hope State fans show up and represent well. Prescott is going to dominate us Deshaun Watson style, but either way we should be a happy to play a Power 5 team instead of Tulsa. Beamer got screwed.

It's Dak Prescott's final game but Is that enough of a draw for Mississippi State fans? The Wolfpack should have some homefield support if its fans want to show up for a bowl sponsored by a southern department store. The Bulldogs should have a significant edge, but this is a good building block for NC State coach Dave Doeren.

FWIW, Georgia Tech beat them by 15 in their bowl game last year. So ... go ACC

Would be awesome if Dayes can suit up for this one. Haven't really heard, but I'm thinking it's not likely.

yeah, i haven't watched any of Miss St this year and i assume they'll be favored. but looking at their schedule, their results are somewhat comparable to ours...beat pretty much every team they should beat, but no real upsets.

We got the bowl because Belk could only pick between Pitt and us. Since Pitt was 8-4, they couldn't drop to get a 6-6 team. We were more attractive than Pitt.

^ That's pretty fucked up, if you think about it, and highlights just how ridiculous the college football post season really is. I mean, they (Continental Tire, Meineke Car Care, Belk) would have preferred a 6 win VT over an 8 win team if they could have done so, which completely undermines the importance of a teams regular season record. The bowl game is supposed to be a reward for the season, and Pitt is getting the shaft because they don't have the same alumni base as we do, and we are being rewarded because of our fanbase, even though our record is not that attractive. I'll take it, obviously, but I totally understand their (Pitt's) gripe.

Really, the bowls should be required to invite based on strict record and conference tie in without the loopholes to pass over teams that aren't as financially attractive. But, you know...college football.

we could talk about that, but it would be stupid, because that's not what happened.

VT didn't get a tier 1 bowl because none of the tier 1 bowls wanted Pitt. VT couldn't get out of the shit bowls unless both 8-4 teams were picked by the tier 1 bowls.

We got the Belk Bowl because of ticket sales. The same way nearly every single other non-NY6 bowl picks teams. I don't see why people still get surprised over this fact.

^^I hear that, but I don't think you represent the average fan from a ratings perspective. There are WAY too many bowl games for most of them to get good ratings. If Toledo and Indiana are playing in some bowl on Tuesday night December 22nd, nobody is really gonna care aside from Toledo fans and Indiana fans.
