i think sidney may change recruiting for everyone. he has shown that a school that has been pretty shitty lately can recruit with the big names (particularly callipari [that dirtbag]) simply by spotting their talent way before everyone else and sticking with them from the beginning.

I feel like 99% of these recruiting "experts" just see that Uchebo is a tall african and say he's raw with upside without ever actually watching him play. If his name was Joe Howell we might get some actual reports on him

as for Thomas, I think it's a net-zero. There was some potential he might one day be at least a halfway useful player (he'd still have two years provided he was rewarded a medical redshirt correct?) with the flashes of his rebounding and mid-range jumper, but as of now all this does is stop Lowe from being tempted to play too many guys. Between Leslie, Wood, Williams and Brown we have enough options on the wing that worrying about injuries should only come into play if we switch back to LA Gear. Since he graduated, I see no downside

CJ Williams just became that much more important. With Johnny gone, that leaves us only 5 scholarship guards on the roster. Count on at least one of them getting injured at some point during the season, and our depth is looking pretty bad.

uhh, he wasn't a post player, he's only about 6'5" - 6'6", he hung out on the perimeter on offense, he rotated in and out with Williams and Wood, and usually guarded the other team's most dangerous guard. Maybe he's technically listed as a forward on gopack, but that's a guard in my book.

My uncle played ball with him at DeMatha and they keep in touch. He showed me around the facilities back when he was director of basketball operations. Something seemed shady though. I think he said he worked for Xerox or something before Lowe hired him.

2. Oak Ridge decides not to invite him back to school next year.
3. Also, he's kicked off the Oak Ridge team.

I don't understand why people are still inserting Howell into the starting lineup, leaving our most dangerous deep threat worthless on the bench (nonetheless, a starter from last year). I know Howell came on strong last year, but he's the same build as Smith. Why not have him relieve Smith off the bench and keep a fresh heavy body on the court at all times?

For me, it's a matter of getting a dominant rebounder on the court with Smith. If CJL is a good rebounder, I'd start him at PF, Wood at SF, and not think twice about it. But I don't know how good of a rebounder he is, or dedicated he is to crashing the boards. Howell obviously is, and his a pretty unique skill set for such a bulky guy.

Or course, it doesn't really matter. Just speculation at this point.

Plus, Howell is a 4. CJ is better suited for the 3. CJ is ~185 pounds so you'd prefer to not have him anchoring your frontline, but rather have him on the wing where he can excel
