We had to do some from 1 yd, to simulate the person getting really close. That was fun...

I hope you get to the range to do much more training.

I hope you weren't too nervous. I'd hate to see how nervous you'd really be in a SHTF situation.

Congrats. I can't believe someone failed the CCW exam. shooting such short ranges aren't difficult to hit center of mass.

Ok nervous was the wrong word. I brought my trusty 1911 just incase I had any malfunctions or something with the sr9c but I wanted to do shoot the sr 9 so it's what I used. It went fine.

I wasn't sure of the gun so I brought a backup. Wasn't really nervous. Wasn't vey good with left handed shooting though do you still try to use your strong eye or go non dominant ? I wasn't terrible but still I wasn't proud either left handed left eyed. I go to the range plenty normally, most if the reason I haven't been in a while is when my dog fell ill I had to give her drugs 6 times a day, it didn't really leave time to drive to g boro and shoot much. She has since passed hence I finally took the course. Haven't shot since feb but will probably go every other week now.

from what i've seen, there's not really a standard qualification course. they all seem to make you shoot a standard silhouette target from 3, 5, and 7 yards. i took it with Rush and he gave us a number of shots to fire and an amount of time. stuff like 7 rounds in 5 seconds, 3 rounds in 2 seconds, etc. i don't remember how many rounds total it was

^ This. I think it was 50 rounds total. I also did it with Rush

Im with the mentality that I train to hit targets 20-25 yards out consistently/accurately with a calm, smooth/focused draw.

My recent trips to a biofeedback specialist has definitely help me control my body, emotions, and stress. Biofeedback has been great training in general, not just for my recent injury but also with everything I do everyday. I know an awesome specialist here in Raleigh. She's fantastic. I'm glad I gave it a try.

Minimum of 30, and I remember buying a box off him and borrowing is XD 9mm since I didn't have a pistol at the time. I don't know. It was ~4 years ago.

And people fail that (and yes LE are notoriously bad shooters; 30% hit rate or something)? Seems like it could be done with your eyes closed (literally).

9mm AR. Will be completing Form 1 for SBR.

Due to miscommunication, it takes colt mags, not glock mags.

Hearing that "beeeeeep" and a whole line of people next to you open up at the same time (and hot brass in your shirt collar because they moved the firing line alllll the way to the end of the Wake County shooting range without any dividers between shooters) definitely adds a bit of excitement

took my hand loads out this weekend. I was getting consistent hit on a 24" plate at 1040 yards!

Pushing a 175gr SMK just shy of 2800fps!

Also got a chance to put my new spotter to good use and watch some trace.

@ sumfoo1 we were up in VA in the mountains and so called wind class. I was shooting a bolt action 308, Win M70 custom bbl, badger 20moa base, badger rings and a Vortex viper PST 6-24 ffp. I go locally some, mostly matches. If your interested, shoot me a PM and i'll get you some info on where/when we shoot.

@ y0willy0 not sure what they were using, but they weren't penetrated. I use primarily 1/2'' AR500

So, after researching rifles for the past few weeks, I decided on a Browning A-bolt II .270. I'd priced them new on gunbroker for around $600, call it $650 shipped. On a whim today, I went to one of the pawn shops I've not been to in a while, and the guy handed me a Remington 700. I'm still kind of new into rifles, but I knew that it was a little bit more valuable than the A-bolt, and I noticed the leupold scope, and both the rifle and the scope looked brand new (it was used though, but barely, from what I can tell. No scratches, scuffs, or anything) He had it priced at $700, and after playing with it for about 20 minutes, I decided to buy it. Went home and googled everything, Leupold Mark VX-3 3.5-10x 40mm scope, new around $500, going for $350 used. The rifle is a 700 BDL, best I can tell comparable ones new are going for $800, used in as good condition as this one around $650-700 with no scope. So tell me, am I wrong about all this or did I stumble into a hell of a deal?

My 700 shot 1MOA groups. I had the Hogue stock and a better trigger installed.
My opinion is that they are great guns for people who don't know a lot/ don't really care. There is a ton of aftermarket support for them as well.

That's just stupid

I have a post Freedom Group Rem 700 AAC-SD in .308 that will bullseye at 300 yards off the bench all day. No crooked scope mounting holes, no broken small parts, head spacing is not at either limit, and the fit and finish is better than most. I have never understood all the hate for 700's. Don't most military sniper rifles use 700 actions?

For added accuracy I use NRR tears to lubricate the bolt.

yes, a lot of military bolt guns use a 700 action. so do most benchrest rifles.

but there's nothing Remington about them. my problem is not with the Remington-style action, it's with Freedom Group and all their shit products.

i'll take a model 70 mauser action

most of those "Remington" actions actually end up having their threads cut out, overbored, squared and then re threaded to be trued up to the action. Most people using 700's for long range or bench rest end up having the action trued and blue printed. i don't have a problem with Remington actions, i can understand NRR's POV tho.

the biggest thing is the amount of aftermarket mods available for the Remingtons. That is why most people choose them is options.

in regards to Garands, Orest Michaels of the CMP said that he doesn't believe it will have any direct impact on the CMP.

but the tards behind the counters in gun shops will make it a self-fulfilling prophecy (the same way they've got everyone convinced that the gubment is buying up all the .22LR ammo ).

i can certainly see it driving up prices for things like mosin nagants.
