A bunch of my co-workers are going to Germany. I apparently was not selected. I have a huge feeling my boss is going (he was not here today), a guy who was JUST hired a few weeks ago is going (I have so far been with the company for 4+ months, and I will have been with them for 8+ months by the time the trip comes), people who went a year ago are going. Damn near everyone I know has either been or already been.

I've been busting my ass trying to learn and improve the area I work in. I've been putting in long hours without complaint. I am underpaid in my field IMO for the amount of money I'm going to save them through my input and my ideas. I'm not out to fuck anyone over or screw anyone over. The production manager in the bay I work in has (to my knowledge) spoken highly to my boss's boss (the head of the plant). I honestly don't know what my boss has said to anyone else, because I haven't gotten a whole lot of feedback, even though I've tried asking for it. I haven't had any complaints. I guess it is possible, maybe even likely, that people are straight up lying to my face.

So yeah. I guess I feel stressed, under-appreciated and un-motivated. I guess my only real motivation is to not disappoint the people who I'm helping, because really, they haven't done me wrong.

Time for me to look up the requirements for comp-days and have a talk with my boss about some needed time off. I'm basically waiting on other people right now and I've gotten myself caught up, so I'm not going to feel guilty about taking some well-needed time off. I swear, this Monday I felt like I was just about to snap, and when I heard people talking about going to Germany, I felt like I was about to snap right then and there.

I mean really, what the fuck is a production scheduler going to learn by going to Germany? I mean REALLY? I have so much more to gain as a Process Engineer. Our process at the plant I'm in is all fucked up. It would be a great thing for me to see plants that are much different from ours.

But I guess there isn't much I can do about it. I guess I can whine and bitch about it, but it's just not worth it.

^6 have you brought up the issue with your boss/manager? I feel being open with your management early in your job should be good. In my performance review my boss said that was the one area I needed some improvement.

What area is the newly hired guy in? Is he an experienced engineer? This may simply be a case where he needs to be brought up to speed.

I have the BEST husband ever.

Carlotta had a free 3 month subscription to Sirius Radio when bought her. Well, the other week it ran out. And I was very sad - because its a long drive to work every morning.

And do you mean bring up the issue of me not going to Germany with my boss? In my view, I'm really not entitled to it. I guess it would just be a "nice" thing. The people who have gone talked about how much fun they had and how much they learned, and it allowed them to meet people face-to-face and create connections with people they may correspond with via e-mail. There are so many resources for our plant in Germany that I haven't even scratched the surface.

Bring it up as "I realize this trip is about going to Germany...which I am not. Hear me out, maybe I can be provided some insight". See that you see how they are going and say when you might expect such a trip as per being able to learn more from your German facilities. I wouldn't try to be a sore loser about other employees going. It may be that you need more time before being eligible for such trips, or they need you to man to plant when they are gone.

It pisses me off when I come to the beach for what I thought was a relaxing family weekend, only to find that my brother has brought 2 friends down too...and they're going to get up at the ass crack of dawn to go fishing. My door is 2' from the kitchen. They will get up & make shit tons of noise in there at 4am, have absolutely no consideration for the other people still sleeping in the house.
