2012 PG Tyler Lewis has us listed as High Interest on Scout. I don't know how accurate that is, but many thought he'd end up at Wake Forest.

Quote :
"NC State coach Sidney Lowe and assistant coach Larry Harris will have an in-home visit with Dix Hills, N.Y., senior small forward Tyler Harris on Sept. 12. Harris will also likely take an official visit to Raleigh during a football game weekend. The Virginia Tech game Oct. 2 could be a possibility, but that will get determined during the in-home visit.""

Speaking of in-home visits, someone on PP said that Coach Lowe has an in-home visit with Mikael Hopkins. Hopkins is rated a 4* prospect and the #3 center in the 2011 class by Scout and attends Lowe's HS alma mater DeMatha Catholic.

in addition to harris, we're supposedly getting a visit from an "unknown" PF Nelson-Ododa.

In that article it says that Harris will be making an official visit for the October 2nd home football game against Virginia Tech. A sign should be made and put in the tailgate area right outside where the recruits usually enter the stadium.

Tyler Harris Down to 5 Schools

Quote :
"Tyler Harris, whose college list once numbered nearly a dozen schools, is now focusing on just five.

The 6-foot-8 forward from Long Island and St. Benedict’s Prep is considering Iowa, N.C. State, Providence, St. John’s and Wake Forest.

Two officials have been set, to N.C. State Oct. 1 and to Providence Oct. 15.

He still has home visits Sept. 20 with Iowa and St. John’s. A home visit with Wake could happen this weekend."

I was thinking the same. Iowa and Wake don't scare me. And St. John's just got 6'7" forward Maurice Harkless a few weeks ago. So I would think that hurts their chances, but you never know.

Big East team Providence is the one I'm worried about. Especially the way Tyler's dad talks about them here:

Quote :
"“Tyler had excellent home visit with Providence coach Keno Davis and assistant
coach Rodell Davis,” Torrel Harris said. “We spoke about so many subjects from academics of the university to the support for the student-athletes of the basketball program. Coach Davis laid out a strong plan on how Tyler will be successfully achieving his college degree to how he can help Providence College become an elite basketball program again. We were very impressed with both
coaches and the goals they have set out for Providence. We like the academics of the school and their style of play, which fits Tyler’s style and the way he likes to play. The small setting of the
school is not bad either.”"

He had some nice things to say about State too, but not as giddy as he sounds about Prov. Hopefully our football game atmosphere during his official visit will boost our chances.

Are we recruiting Harris just to be another solid piece of the puzzle, or is he supposed to be better than advertised? His offer list isn't that impressive.

agreed^

I think the reason his list isnt that impressive to you is because you didnt see his initial list.

and I believe that most other teams are backing off because of how strong his leaders are.

isnt that correct Bigego?

When was the last time Providence was elite? They've never been elite. Sure they have a pretty good history, but the word elite is thrown around way too often nowadays. For example a year or two ago some people on ESPN were saying that Gonzaga was elite. They've been to one Elite Eight ever (1999) and have been crapping out of the 1st and 2nd round pretty much ever since. If that's elite then Sendek's final 5 years are elite.

He might have an "offer" but who knows if he actually has an offer.

and on Harris, if you have any doubts about how good he is just know that he could play at any team in the ACC. some people think he's a better overall player than his brother Tobias.

for those that don't know http://hsnewyork.scout.com/a.z?s=403&p=8&c=1&nid=2996783 is his brother.

I like our chances with Tyler.

I only visit recruiting threads occasionally but I always see you talking about recruits

and this is a serious question, where's your expertise coming from? Premium boards or do you have actual sources and/or knowledge of all these high school players

Maybe he has gotten a lot better, but it was pretty common knowledge in recruiting circles that he was only being pursued by high-major's because people wanted his brother.

Also, his Dad is a prick.

Quote :
"When was the last time Providence was elite?"

They were a really good program when Pitino was there... and in the early 90's some too... Not elite program but they were a good team for a while.

some of it is easily found on the web if you know where to look. some of it's clever google searching. then people tell me things. some of that stuff is "people with sources" some of that stuff is just premie shit i don't have to pay for. some situations i was able to get a ton of info on, others not so much.

i've also talked with a few recruits, i was friends with a couple former football recruits and they used to tell me football side things when i asked, but i haven't asked in a long time.

also my dad runs his own HS sports website, and through that I've been able to get some scoop not many people on State sites would care about.

i will admit that some of it's just conjecture and what makes sense to me (and i'm right more than i'm wrong)

Some of it may have been that initially, but after his brother was set on going to tennessee he still was getting that high major interest. From what I've seen he's a good ball player.
