Of course I am "lucky" if you want to call it that. But in all honesty, that guy had been playing draws for half an hour. I had a really good idea what he was on. If the 3rd heart comes out, I fold. But the thing is, it's about representing what you have and knowing what the other player has. I am fairly certain that most every player at the table actually believed I had the 5 for trips, even though I was in truth, nearly playing the board. So my only job there was to convince my opponent that I had the 5, which I did. So then, as long as what he has doesn't beat what I am representing, then I am the winner of the hand. It doesn't even matter what I had. Besides, his odds of hitting the flush were probably about 45% after the flop and like 25% after the river. He was calling bets way bigger than he should have been calling with really poor pot odds. Suckers like that don't even deserve to be playing the game.

BEST ACCIDENTAL FOLD EVER (well for me)

^^ just to let you know since it comes up a lot. post flop with a flush draw (two in hand, two on board) you have around a 35% chance of hitting (before the end of the hand) and to hit on the river you have ~20% shot. crucial percentages to know when not allowing people to get pot odds on you.

playing at chuckems this afternoon, i finished 6th and then 4th in two tournys. The 2nd tourny, at the end, was turning into jerry fucking springer bullshit. Some guy brought his girlfriend who was acting like trailor trash (if she or the guy reads this, so much the better. that girl needed to be called out, and realize she aint all that... she wasnt even playing cards, she was just there talking shit when she need not have been), trying to start fights etc. I just thought it was the most stupid fucking thing ive seen at poker i think ever, and ive seen my fair share of bull shit.

There was no river

There was like $40 in the pot preflop, $50 in on the turn when I made some dumbass $15 raise and won the pot with a shitty draw


It was just funny to me. I called $10 preflop with 89s because I had odds. Nobody made a move for the pot on the flop, in fact the reraiser folded to $3. Then on the turn the short stack folds to $4 when there's $50 in the pot and I take it down with 9 high and a modest raise.

Weird hand, I couldn't believe it when he folded. Like I said there was $40 in there preflop and nobody showed any interest in the hand afterwards except for me and my 9 high.

what the hell? at the very least, HALF her car was paid for by her poker winnings. hell, there are screenshots on here of her winning thousands of dollars at online tourneys. if you're so much better like you say, youll have no problem making that much. i can't believe you take those tournaments so seriously. theyre free tournaments, to get people in bars so they buy drinks. half the people there don't take it seriously. amelia doesn't take it seriously and she has twice as many points as you in half as many tournaments. oh shit, i guess that means shes 4 times as good as you since you think those numbers mean something.

(1) you are a poor excuse for a poker player. for god's sake, you think it's ok to buy in a cash game with a CHECK, when no one else at the table likes the idea. comparing yourself to kim is a joke. (2) you think kim is hot shit. you don't have to look hard to find a better poker player. i'm not saying she's bad, but she's definitely not what you make her out to be. (3) both you and kim played some really shitty poker after the hand amelia went all in on. i know you didnt feel like being there after kim went out, but what's her excuse. you can say she wasn't on tilt, but that doesn't change the fact that she was playing badly. i'd say she was just pissed off about the all-in hand to the point it was affecting her game. (4) part of no-limit poker is the fact that a player has the right to move all-in on any hand at any time. it certainly served its purpose, as it accomplished precisely what it was intended to do: get both you and kim eliminated before she left. the rest of it was a show. there was no way she was going to leave before that. the whole purpose is to create in your opponents mind the preconceived notion that you don't want to be there/youre trying to lose. then they're much more likely to call with a marginal hand because theyre convinced you don't have anything on any hand.

Imma be completely honest

the WORST hand ive ever seen played was by joey. I raised preflop with A 3 suited, he called with 6 8 off. Flop comes A 3 10. I bet 2x the pot he calls. The turn: 7. I bet 3x as much as the last bet. He calles. The river: 9. I put him all in, he calls. he made the most ridiculous calls to a straight with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I mean NOTHING. there were 2 overs on the flop, and no flush draw or anything. he calls 1/5 of his stack. The turn he has a gutshot 12:1 shot. he calls 2/3 of his remaining stack.

That was the worst hand ive ever seen played

But she did nothing wrong in the game, and as much as I may hate her as a person and how she plays other times, you can’t say anything about her play in that situation, particularly if she announced before the game started what was coming.

Remember, it’s a game. Part of the game means sometimes lying and playing in reckless ways and beating those you care about, and those who piss you the hell off.

I don't really know anyone of you, and I understand there is a lot of personal shit making you guys continue this argument, but honestly who gives a fuck if someone moves all in first hand to be funny at a FUCKING BAR in a FUCKING FREE TOURNAMENT, I mean it's a fucking raleigh bar league not the wsop, if she's dumb enough to do it in a cash game, then call her on it, at the bar, if you don't want to gamble then fucking fold and play the next hand, grow the fuck up

I think it all boils down to how some people can be amazing assholes while playing cards. Often times these assholes are the absolute worst players at the table, but unbelievably, they think they are good. They give people horrible beats, ones in which they are unbelievable underdogs, and when they catch cards, they talk shit.

It kinda reminds me of when I was playing a few months ago with this Arabic guy. He raises to like $8 with A10 offsuit. He is promptly reraised to $16, then again to $40, then a guy goes all-in for $400. Now at this point, you have to be really fucking stupid to think that if you're holding anything less than KK or AA, then your hand is the best hand. Well, dipshit Arab guy calls the all-in. Player 2 folds AQ suited, Player 3 folds QQ (after really thinking hard). All-in guy shows KK. A comes on flop, so the guy with basically 2 outs sucks out, then promptly starts talking shit. He claimed he was pot committed ($8), and then tries to claim that the hand was a coin toss.

With me (I can't speak for anyone else) it's really not about the money. I have money to blow, that's why I can play poker (even though I am way up lifetime). It's about dumb jerkoffs who get lucky with assinine calls and then talk shit. So I can definitely understand Amelia's (and anyone elses) position. It is frustrating to lose to a sucker, but it is well worth it when you take every penny they have. And excuses like "I was playing bad cause I had to go" or "I made that call cause I had a lot of chips" is just plain stupid.

That being said, the only time I ever lose is when I go on tilt trying to outdraw the jackass in one hand, or when I take a bad beat. So that is definitely the biggest thing that I personally have to work on. I can't stop getting outdrawn, but I can stop getting mad and getting off my game.

I bet 2.50 the pot. UTG calls and the dealer calls.

turn: 8 no flush possible now............. made my str8

I bet 4.50. utg calls. Dealer folds.

River: k ...............Looked harmless enough

I bet 7. He reraises all in like 5 more dollars and the pot was pretty big so I call. He has A-Q for a higher str8.


Where did I go wrong? Should I have bet more on the turn like put him all in?
