Wolf Parade's about a 50/50 for me right now.

I kinda hope it sells out before I decide so I don't have to decide to decide.

She & Him could have been, quite possibly, the absolute worst show I have ever attended at the Cat's Cradle in my entire life.

Jesus Christ --- I either wanted my money back, or I wanted the opportunity to beat that back up singer lifeless with a tire iron. Either one would have been great.

^^ what did you expect the show to be like? i went into it thinking it was going to be kind of boring (tickets were free), but i really enjoyed the whole thing (though i could have done without the Freakwater encore). her voice sounded really solid live, her on-stage persona was super cute, m. ward is great, she is hot.. where was the problem?

^^^ Yes, I'm dead serious.

^^^^^Her voice sounded great, but everything seemed to forced. It started off good, and it ended well, but everything in the middle was so incredibly boring that it completely ruined the rest of the show for me. She had zero energy and didn't even look like she was having fun until the last 3 or 4 songs.

There was also such a difference in character among the band itself --- 4 really talented musicians, 1 great singer who stood on stage like a zombie, and then 1 ditzy, distracting, and an annoying back up singer who I'm fairly confident has Asperger Syndrome.

The crowd was really annoying as well, but that wasn't the fault of the band. It just didn't help matters any.

I wish I had spent my $ on Wolf Parade.

Not a big deal, and of course my initial post was hyperbole, but I honestly did not enjoy that show. I was really disappointed. I enjoyed that album immensely and I cannot say that I had ever attended a show and liked an album less after leaving, until last night.

i went into she and him thinking it would be boring. i didn't really care for the opening band (we sat in the back/outside and drank for that part) and then i was pleasantly surprised by she & him. i expected zooey deschanel to be shy (i was half worried she was going to be like chan marshall cracked out shy) but she was REALLY cute. she was shy but in a cute non annoying way. i liked it. i had a lot of fun. it wasn't boring (i mean it obviously wasn't the most energizing show but, why would anyone expect this). i thought it was cool one of the encore songs was an m. ward song (was hoping they would do that). i was pleasantly surprised by zooey's voice (i mean i just wasn't sure if it was going to sound great live). i thought it was pretty enjoyable. maybe that is because i didn't go in with my hopes up.

and i would not have wanted to save my money for wolfparade based on their new album.

i thought that all of the stuff that sounds forced on the album was done in a much more lively/natural fashion during the show...like i said, it was totally adorable

with that said, when the backup singer came up and sang lead for one song, i was glad that the piano blocked my view of her for the rest of the show

yes, you missed out on her clapping off beat on every song and completely spazzing out the rest of the show.

As I said earlier, she deserved to be bludgeoned.

i will be there as well.

wolf parade was pretty awesome i thought. they played just about every song off the two albums, with the exception of i want to say dinner bells and modern world. they played a few songs a little faster than they are normally, but it worked. i think they were maybe pissed off with the equipment issues that happened at the start of the set.

Wolf Parade was fun.

Some new concerts I'm looking forward to seeing:
09-09 - Tokyo Police Club - CC
11-02 - Deerhunter/Times New Viking - CC (Bishop Allen is playing at the 506 the same night but I've seen them at least three times already)

Times New Viking should open for Deerhoof instead of Deerhunter.

Because I'm not paying $12 just to see them open.

Well the good thing about Tokyo Police Club is that we should be able to hear everything Tokyo Police Club has ever recorded. I think they've totaled a little over 50 minutes of studio music.

this sounds pretty fucking awesome:

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/143776-dan-deacons-zany-round-robin-concept-tour-revealed

Quote :
"Looks like Dan Deacon has finally made good on his promise to deliver a "round robin" tour brimming over with Baltimore's finest, and, oh lordy, where to begin?

Let's start with the artists: there are a jaw-dropping 29 in all, and Mr. Deacon has done us the service of dividing them into three distinct groups.

"Eyes Night" includes Beach House, Jana Hunter, Wzt Hearts, Nautical Almanac, Lexie Mountain Boys, and more, and puts the focus on "a mixture of folk, noise, theatrics, improvisation-- music that is spiritual, dreamy etc.," according to the press release. "Feet Night", appropriately, brings "music that you dance, thrash, or otherwise move around to" and includes the Death Set, Videohippos, Future Islands, Adventure, Deacon himself, and the one and only DJ Dog Dick.

Finally we have the "Weird Round", an assortment of categorization-flaunting acts that will be "peppered" amid the "Eyes" and "Feet" folk, apparently at random.

Next, the shows themselves: the 14-date, seven-city cavalcade of unorthodox delights kicks off October 2 in Boston with an "Eyes Night", and alternates between those and "Feet Nights" thereafter. Just in case you were concerned, know that the more than 60 people involved in this tour will be traveling about using vehicles that are "veggie powered." Furthermore, quite a few people who come to these shows will probably be mushroom powered.

Last but by no means least, we have the "round robin" concept: at each gig, all of the night's bands will set up their gear simultaneously "along the perimeter of the room, with the audience in the center." Then the round robin part begins, as each band rolls through one song, then passes the spotlight to the next band with nary a moment's break in between. By the end of it, in exchange for a sore neck, you'll be intimately familiar with the musical goods Baltimore has to offer.

So, got all that? Scroll onward, then, for a complete list of participating bands and ports of call for what's sure to be utter insanity."

a big "fuck yeah" to the boys from future islands
