Pretty much everything from Pet Sounds on isn't really that cheery. Well, everything in between Pet Sounds and when they pretty much ceased being The Beach Boys as far as I'm concerned.

N.E.R.D. -- Seeing Sounds
hxxp://www.sendspace.com/file/og2491

And while I'm here.... Mr Scrumples, Pet Sounds is one of the best albums ever recorded, and definitely in my top 5. You say you like The Beatles, well Paul McCartney lists Pet Sounds as his favorite album ever recorded. It was very influential on their recording of Sgt. Peppers. You say you've listened to it and don't like it, which is fine, but I don't see how you cannot at least acknowledge its importance and influence.

Pet Sounds and The Zombies' Odessey and Oracle are my two favorite non-Beatles albums of the 60's.

i've really been leaning hard on the animals, the cream and the yardbirds

but i guess they were just whitebread electrifying the blues

but it has a groove to it that makes me boogie down

i've done that, too, but i'm still gaga over the beach boys

rawwulf, if you think the rest of the catalog is too cheery, you really need to check out holland and surf's up (one of the most depressing albums i've ever heard if you ditch the three god-fucking-terrible-shit mike love and bruce johnston songs, particularly "disney girls (1957)" and "student demonstration time")

^ LOL --- I started to bring up Surfs Up last night. "Disney Girls (1957)" is one of my favorite Beach Boys songs.

This is a web rip, BUT, it's supposed to sound very good for a rip. (and much better than the stream).

It's not my link and the uploader apologized about the file being in a bit of a jumble, so, be warned. I have yet to download it, so I have no idea what the dude was talking about.

^^ Yeah, I'm really having trouble getting into it. Then again, I hated Everyone Nose at first and that grew on me; but outside of Everyone Nose, the remix of it, and Spaz, I'm not really feeling anything.

In other news, Opeth debuted at #23 on the billboard...not too bad for them The new album is killer too.

same here. Im glad Im not the only one who feels like the album could have been longer. Everything on there is great, it just ends too early for the epic feel the music has.

I just listened to the new wolf parade for the 10th and probably last time. It's just really not good at all. Not a single memorable melody or song on there. The songwriting comes across as lazy and uninspired. And I really enjoyed the first album. Oh well

That Wale "Seinfeld" mixtape is great though

I don't think the Wolf Parade album is great by any means, but I did enjoy a few of the songs on there. I listened to it a bunch when I first got it and haven't touched it in two weeks. I definitely had my fill.
