My Knox Cold Killers pants and glove liners came in today and my new winter gloves were postponed and should arrive today. Too bad I won't be able to test them until net week sometime.12/11/2009 3:55:58 AM |

After being disappointed by a couple new pairs I decided to drop some money on some Olympia windtex gloves...by far the warmest and most comfortable gloves I've worn. Been riding around in all this cold weather (night included) and my hands have yet to get uncomfortably cold.
The left thumb has a squeegee built in to clean your visor when it's raining, which is neat and all but I'd kinda rather stick to the good ol' hand wipe and keep cold rubber off the back of my thumb. That's really my only complaint though, these gloves are great

it was parked in the parking lot of my apt with a cover on it. Best I canfigure is that the cover acted like a sail and helped it over. I have since moved it to a better spot so the wind pushes it toward the kick stand side. Plus the wind should be blocked by othe cars. This lesson will cost me about 500 I think.12/11/2009 10:19:27 AM |

My friend and I may be going down to Charlotte to pick up a Triumph he may be buying.
We both can't ride for shit, so he wants to drive it back in his pickup.
How does one transport a motorcycle (upright) in a small pickup? 12/17/2009 9:08:26 PM |

Strap down the handlebars on each side, compressing the forks a bit. Then strap down a frame member on each side of the bike in the back. Make sure the straps have the bike secure agaisnt forward/back motion and side-to-side motion. Do not put down the center stand. Be careful not to scrape the bottom of the bike on the edge of the tailgate. 12/18/2009 9:49:44 AM |

No riding for me out here in Greensboro/Burlington until there is no hint or threat of black ice. My boss already took a spill just last week after riding across a bridge where grooves in the road collected water and then froze. 12/20/2009 7:45:37 PM |

We used three straps and zero confidence.
But it worked out, even when his POS truck's alternator died, and we had to get the truck towed, with the bike in back 12/23/2009 11:47:25 AM |

No but the dude at the dmv was pretty much a dick the whole time. Said he didn't have a motorcycle handbook at the beginning. The lady who I had to go sit down with went right to the back and grabbed one for me. Told me to take as long as I needed to look it over before I took the test. Then first guy comes over and tells me I have to take the test right then. Oh well, I passed so it's ok 1/7/2010 8:40:24 PM |

I had a question on there and it asked about how you're supposed to cross railroad tracks. I was like WTF... "How about I do a wheelie over those tracks and you tell me if I crossed them" is what I wanted to put but there were no options for that answer And IRL, I can't do wheelies lol but even now, I never knew there was a "right" way to cross railroad tracks 1/8/2010 2:26:06 PM |
catzor All American 1749 Posts user info edit post |
You're supposed to cross them as close to perpendicular from the ground(upright) as possible. Read the manual, faggots. 1/8/2010 2:36:28 PM |

Isn't that common sense?! I doubt I'll be going around a curve trying to scrape a knee or anything over a railroad road track LOL, and I can't remember exactly what the possible answers were, but from what i can remember, they were ridiculously dumb. And if you are going to be asshole about it, well I guess thats your sad little life. I'd hate to be as angry as you are about everything it seems.
Besides I aint worried about it anymore: I passed that thing without missing one so piss off! 1/8/2010 2:58:25 PM |

Get a 3mm thick skiing wetsuit to wear under your riding gear. You should be sweating by the time you get to where you're going. If not, get a 6mm suit, which is okay in 45 degree water while you're freezing your fucking head off. 1/8/2010 10:58:20 PM |

I use a Seirus one snowboarding. It makes all the difference in the world. I have to pull it off the top of my head fairly often because it'll make me sweat if I don't. I don't think that would be a problem when you're cruising on a bike though.1/10/2010 3:26:03 PM |

I use:
http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=&item=FTL_ANT023-BZ-XXX and it's just about the best thing ever. It keeps the wind off of my chest and seals up gaps left from the neck of my coat. I don't use it to cover my nose or else my visor fogs up. I also have an Under Armor hood for when it's really cold and I need my head warm. Anything thicker and my head would feel squished in and likely hurt by the time I got home. 1/10/2010 4:56:00 PM |
Dave All American 2866 Posts user info edit post |
^I use the balaclava version of that. It's pretty awesome, but the concern about fogging the visor is definitely truth. I also have the same brand glove inserts. They're pretty good as well. 1/10/2010 10:54:52 PM |

Anyone in or around Raleigh have an SV650 they'd let me spend a few minutes with? I'm looking at getting another bike while the market's a little cheaper, and I really like the way those look.
I've heard pretty good things about them, but not so sure about the ergonomics, as I'm kind of a big guy (6'0, 265). I'd like to sit on one and ride it a little, even if it's just a couple laps around a parking lot, to see how the controls and the suspension fits me. If it makes any difference, I've got a couple '07s I've been eyeballing.
Better yet, anyone want to sell me theirs if I find that I like it? 1/12/2010 10:34:48 AM |
