I think a lot of it comes from his on-field demeanor. After every bad play he pouts and/or yells at his teammates. He just comes off a little whiner/complainer...especially when things aren't going his way. Which, to me, is kinda being a dick.

I assume people see Cutler as a dick because of him grabbing his crotch at Chargers players, him refusing to just put past stuff with Philip behind him, him constantly acting like a baby on the sidelines when his team is losing. He just has an irritating personality.

Brees sure
Brady not so much. His WRs and O-Line inflate his ego and stats.

McNabb you have to be seriously halucinating. Good QB sure but top 5 in football yeah right.

I'll agree with Peyton. Regardless of the team around him Peyton as i can see still takes care of business.

I than really know you are full of shit when you claim Farve is a tier 2 QB.

Ok, I agree that Brady is slightly overrated, but he is EASILY either the #1 or #2 QB in the league right now assuming he comes back from the injury 100%

He's a tier 2 QB right now...and arguably over the last couple years.

And your argument would look better if you spelled his name right.

Carson Palmer was easily a top 3 quarterback 2 years ago, now he's not a top 20 QB...nothing is guaranteed for Brady

would anybody have had Brees in their top 5 two years ago? Look how much Hasselbeck has fallen off everyone's ratings over the last couple years...a few years ago, Mark fucking Bulger was a consensus top 5 QB in the NFL...with the exception of Peyton, this shit changes all the time

There's a huge assumption you're making. The fact is that he IS injured, and that injury has felled some very good QBs in the past. His injury is worse because it got infected and he's way behind schedule in his rehab.

Pre-injury he was either #1 or #1a. There's no guarantee that he'll even play next year, since they may have to operate on his knee again.

Rivers put up the best numbers in the NFL this year. He's an elite QB, and most analysts would say that he's top-5 right now.

Rivers sends Peyton home early again on Saturday. The Chargers won't get beat twice at home by the same team. They'll get an early lead and make the Colts 1-dimensional, and then force Manning into mistakes down the stretch.

Hopefully the MVP award for Peyton will prove to be a jinx, as it was for Brady, LT and Alexander before that.

Here's what Cutler said after the game:

Quote :
"SAN DIEGO – The finality of his team’s historic collapse was still sinking in, and Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler looked shellshocked as he trudged off the Qualcomm Stadium grass Sunday night and into an offseason of self-flagellation and regret.

The San Diego Chargers had just won the AFC West title in resounding fashion, defeating the Broncos, 52-21, to earn the right to host the Indianapolis Colts in a first-round playoff game six days later, and Cutler stopped to answer an unambiguous question: Was it fair to conclude that the team he just played is for real?

“These guys?” the Pro Bowl quarterback asked, gesturing to the players celebrating behind him. “San Diego? No, I don’t think so. I think Indy’ll handle ‘em pretty good. We really can’t stop anybody, and that’s the bottom line.”
"

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-morningrush122908&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

He's a punk and a sore loser. And that last line smacks of something Peyton Manning would say after another early playoff exit.

all of his douchebaggery is very well documented.

Cutler is a class act, and all of y'all making accusations about his character are only drawing conclusions bases on assumptions and yellow journalism.

Give the guy a break, he's battled diabeetus his WHOLE LIFE and is an NFL quarterback! It's really an amazing story.

Yeah Rivers played hurt once. give the guy a fucking fig newton.

Well, to be fair, Freeney is a porch monkey.

Rivers' "shit-talking", if you can call it that, is actually pretty pathetic.

After the playoff loss to the Patiots in '06 when Ellis Hobbs was dancing on the Chargers logo and LT had to be restrained from going after him, you could hear Rivers, in a high-pitched southern twang, screaming "You're the sorriest cornerback in the league!".

Good read:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/jim_trotter/12/29/Trotter.Charges/index.html

Some highlights:
Quote :
"Despite not making the Pro Bowl, San Diego QB Philip Rivers is one of the game's elite players."

Quote :
"The truth is that if the players (and fans) who claim to dislike Rivers spent more than a Sunday afternoon with him they would learn that he does not cuss, takes being a father and husband as seriously as he does a winning QB, and has a strong religious faith. He's also passionate, emotional and competitive, each of which contributes to him being one of the league's better QBs."

Quote :
"Cutler needs to learn that if he's going to talk the talk, he needs to walk the walk. He has spent the past year calling out Rivers at different points, saying how he doesn't like how Rivers carries himself. Well, it's probably safe to assume that Cutler would have loved to have changed cleats with Rivers on Sunday night, because Rivers was as brilliant as Cutler was dull. "

At first I was like..."Colts will win this going away."

But the closer it gets to Saturday, the more excited I get about this game and San Diego's chance.

The Chargers just have to keep putting up points. I think their defense is just going to go all out after Peyton...which means that he'll definitely get his points, but I think make some mistakes too. Should be a great game.

I see the complete lack of a running game by the Colts hurting them a ton... Chargers are going to be able to pin their ears back and blitz, and with Cromartie stuck on Wayne I think its going to come down to Dallas Clark as the deciding factor

Cromartie sucks this year.

They'll stick Jammer on Wayne.

It should be another close game. Homefield advantage is huge for San Diego. I think they win by less than a touchdown.

^Colts are pretty much lights out on the road. I don't know if HFA will be as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. I don't think shit like that effects Manning that much.

San Diego's secondary is really going to have to step up. I think the front 7 will be able to get pressure on Manning...the secondary just has to take advantage. And Philip has to be spot on. Indy's defense is pretty solid and I don't see them running too well on them. Sproles will be key...he's got to make a big play in the return game and/or the short passing game...turning some screen or short swing passes into big gains.

Again...I'm getting really excited about this game.

Well I doubt the road and the crowd affects Manning too much, but the Chargers play their most inspired football at home. They posted several blowouts at the Q, including big wins against the Jets, Patriots and Broncos. On the road, they frequently come out flat, but at home they are motivated and ready to play from the first snap.

Rivers has had a lot of success throwing the ball against that Colts pass D in his last 2 games against them. Manning, on the other hand, has thrown 9 interceptions in his last 3 games against the Chargers.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/98033-is-jay-cutler-a-punk

Quote :
""I don't know, you tell me."

A phrase that can be heard at a Jay Cutler press conference.

In between rolling his eyes and giving curt responses, the phrase "I don't know, you tell me," is a point at which you know the press conference is about to end.

Not because all the questions have been asked. Or all the answers have been given.

Because the subject is unwilling to respond in a civilized manner.

Jay Cutler has been described as spoiled, smug, a guy with the personality of a doorstop.

But the one description that is sticking the most is: Jay Cutler is a punk.

In a radio interview with Kevin Acee, Matt Wilhelm touched on this when he said, "He is a punk, I'm just not a huge fan of his. He and Tony Gonzalez are the biggest crybabies in the league."

Where does Wilhelm's animosity stem from? Much of it can be traced back to Christmas Eve 2007.

The Chargers were facing the Broncos and were about to defeat a Cutler-led team for the fourth straight time. Both teams were doing a lot of talking, but Cutler decided to take it one step further.

What did Cutler say?

"If I could, I would say them," Wilhelm said. "But they're unfit for...radio. They're something that probably only happens on the football field or when you're extremely, extremely angry at someone."

Yet Philip Rivers is widely thought responsible for the "trash talking." Why is this?

Partially this comes from Cutler's comments about Rivers. "I’m just not that big of a fan of the guy.” Cutler continued, “I don’t like how he carries himself. I don’t like some of the stuff he does on the field.”

But the main reason for this perception is that the cameras only captured Rivers responding to Cutler during that Christmas Eve game. Rivers can be seen saying "Atta, baby" as well as "The ball is over there" in Cutler's direction.

As Eric Allen pointed out on Colin Cowherd's radio program, what the audience saw at home doesn't tell the whole story.

"What people don't realize is there is lots of stuff going on on a football field," Allen said.

"People don't know, when I'm looking at film I see some things that happen after the play because I'm looking at the film, the team's copy. I'm not gonna say what part of the anatomy that Denver's quarterback was grabbing. But he was making some gestures that, uh, weren't PG TV."

Allen continued, "One of the things that Philip Rivers is is he's one of the guys. And when you have quarterbacks like that they're OK to stand by the defense. It's like, 'Hey, you know what, this is my football team if you are gonna talk I'm gonna give it right back to ya.' And that's how he's been and that how he'll continue to be."

One part of that Allen interview stands out—the phrase "one of the guys." Something Jay Cutler might know a little about.

Not with cameras catching him bad-mouthing his wide receivers on the field. (Hopefully the kids at home can't read lips.) Not with his bad mouthing of his defense in the press, calling out his star wide receiver in the offseason, all the while displaying a healthy dose of arrogance.

The same arrogance that led him to proclaim that there was no team with a better chance to reach the Super Bowl than the Broncos.

The same arrogance that led him to tell The Sporting News' Steve Greenberg, "I have a stronger arm than John, hands down. I'll bet on it against anybody's in the league. Brett Favre's got a cannon. But on game days, there's nobody in the league who's going to throw it harder than I am at all."

That's the type of thinking that displays why he is second in the NFL in interceptions. As Peter King commented, "sometimes he forces balls into coverage that are just plain bad decisions. Check out his second-quarter throw with three Panthers around his receiver. Pick."

So, while critics question Cutler's leadership skills, and others question his on-field decisions and demeanor, I think a good place to look is at his comments to the media and his post-game press conferences.

Between eye rolls and one-word answers you have a press conference where, after a total collapse to the Chargers, you can hear such unoriginal statements as, "We really can’t stop anybody," or, "We stopped ourselves. They didn't stop us once today."

A press conference where he was asked about the Chargers chances and replied with, “San Diego? No, I don’t think so. I think Indy’ll handle ‘em pretty good."

A press conference where once again he refuses to be gracious in defeat.

Where once again he can't help but throw teammates under the bus.

Where once again he belittles his opponents.

It begs the question, is Jay Cutler a punk?

I don't know. You tell me."

Both gametime decisions.

LT has a tendon disconnected from his pubic bone, so they don't know how effective he can be. Gates seems doubtful but he thinks he will play.
