God, I hate this fucking town. Having to move back to the vicinity, even temporarily, is making me regret all of my life decisions up until this point. Sure, I despise mathematics and physics, but I'm physically capable of figuring them out, and none of my engineer pals have to live in fucking Greensboro.
It says something that I'm desperately waiting for the opportunity to be violently ill for two years while trying to teach things to people who resent me and will actively resist everything I tell them while robbing me, all in some fetid jungle Peace Corps town, just because it will get me the fuck out of Greensboro.

Christ, what a hell hole. Actually, it's even worse, I live just over the border in Randolph County. A dry county. But unless I just give up and join the Ku Klux goddamn Klan, the only opportunity for social experiences -- such as they are -- lies in that festering urban sprawl to the north. 1/2/2012 10:49:55 PM |

Well, shit. I mean, I don't even know who the fuck you are, but you probably know me pretty well. I should call them and tell them to tear up all my paperwork.
Or -- and this is just another option here, just putting it out and seeing if the cat laps it up -- you could go fuck yourself to death with a rusted mace.

I don't mind Greensboro. But I work there and live in Alamance county. I actually think that's the way to do it, honestly, and it's much cheaper. However, it doesn't compare to the triangle, which is where I'd really like to be. 1/3/2012 10:03:38 AM |

Carolina Circle Mall closed down so a lot of folks went to Four Seasons Mall to hang out. Now you have a divide in Greensboro with the middle class and above folks mostly going to Friendly Center and the lower class folks hanging out at Four Seasons.
Or in easier terms. White people go to Friendly Center and everyone else goes to Four Seasons.
It used to be that younger folks went to Four Seasons because you were less likely to get kicked out and older folks went to Friendly Center. Before Friendly Center was remodeled there was a movie theater, Winn Dixie (?), Eckards, and a Movie/Video rental place. Not much else for younger folks. We would ride our bikes up there, see a movie and rent a video game. At Four Seasons we would get dropped off and left for a few hours. They had an arcade, food court and other "fun" stuff.
Looking back at things I have no idea how we didn't get hit by a car riding up to Friendly nor how we didn't get kicked out of Four Seasons every time we went. 1/3/2012 10:54:25 AM |
jethromoore All American 2529 Posts user info edit post |
^Yeah it's been within the last 10 years that Friendly Center expanded, I'm not sure if there is anything in the mall that isn't at Friendly. On top of that, all the growth in Burlington (Alamance Crossing) will pull business from the outskirts and outlying communities.

I was bored out of my mind when I first moved here; but in the 4 years I have lived in the Triad, its not been so bad. If you have money and a family, its a pretty decent place to settle in but if you are young, and not a douchebag, it can be pretty tiring (for the love of god can we get a decent beer joint?). For me too, I live in between W/S and G'boro so I have to go to one or the other to get anything done. 1/3/2012 1:13:51 PM |

The "Randolph County" part is actually the highlight of the whole experience. The house and property are awesome. I don't even mind the drive to town -- Greensboro is so sprawling it always took me forever to get from point A to point B, even when I lived in the city proper -- the problem is there is nowhere to drive to that's worth a damn.

Most people try and avoid High Point Road now. All joking aside, there have been several shootings/armed robberies recently (Player's club, Jimmy Johns, Subway, Plush, and Exxon just off the top of my head). Not sure when you went to high school, but Four Seasons has been lumped in with the rest of High Point Road for as long as I can remember.1/3/2012 4:12:55 PM |

I've never seen a major road anywhere in worse condition than High Point Rd. The potholes and bumps at the Eugene St. intersection (I guess it's still Lee St. there) are lethal if you're on a bike. There are Roman roads that aren't that torn up.] 1/3/2012 4:24:28 PM |

i dont know anyone who lives there but i walk by it everyday on the way to school, its right across from a beautiful park (where the homeless hang out) and you've got a restaurant on the ground floor plus the rest of downtown just a walk away.
What considerations were you looking for in particular? 1/14/2012 9:16:19 AM |

We want a secure building that's close to Greensboro Country Club and close to downtown.
High-rise preferred High ceilings Large windows Modern style and appliances Community pool Fitness center Covered parking Good for a young professional couple
That's the first option that stood out. Anything else similar to that? 1/14/2012 9:28:19 AM |

i've never been inside so i don't know if they have a pool but it seems to match all the other criteria pretty well. it was on the list for my wife and i when we were looking for downtown places but they didn't have any available at the time. they artificially keep the amount of renters low to keep the sales prices high. 1/14/2012 9:43:59 AM |
