The sunday morning hangover was minor, so car detailing did take place. 4 hours later the car looked amazing.
And now, the following day, my lower back is still killing me from that work 10/17/2011 8:57:18 AM |

Clutch cable (the small one) broke for the first time in about a year this afternoon.
I put a new one in and adjusted the big cable.
I wish I knew why these little cables snap all the time (this is the first time it's done it since I put an aftermarket quadrant in, but before the aftermarket quadrant, the cables would break every other month or so).
Definitely saving the receipt for this as it has a 1 year warranty and has gone up in price 90% over the past year 11/22/2011 1:18:44 AM |

A mechanic's car is most often the last to get attention.
I've been trying to fix my 6 rpm bad ignition breakup. I'm thinking the plugs are bad. They don't look bad. It swapping the coils and ignitor didn't fix the problem.
Fixed my throttle cable. It kinked and the car was bouncing Off the rev limiter for a sec before I shut it off 11/27/2011 8:58:19 PM |

I've had the sunroof off the neon for a few days trying to figure out how to best seal the rubber weatherstripping to the glass. Today I used a marinade injector to inject window/bathroom caulk under the rubber to create a fresh seal and hopefully stop the leaks. ~4PM tomorrow I can test it all out w/ the hose. 12/3/2011 7:35:06 PM |

i swear to god, easiest of all tasks never ends up that way-
trying to run the 64 fairlane out of gas so i can drain and drop the tank to replace the sending unit for the gas gauge. i thought it only had a quarter tank left.
it seems this car gets terrific gas mileage! or refines its own fuel from the air? next time im just gonna let it sit and idle for god knows how long. i figured i would have gotten stranded today...

Definitely not worried about a little bit of bondo since when I cut the driver's side rear quarter off, there was at least a quarter inch of bondo under the paint.
It's a beater, not a show car, so no biggie. 12/15/2011 1:11:48 PM |

Depends on how much chicken wire you had to use to hold it all together. 12/15/2011 2:27:56 PM |
H8R wear sumthin tight 60155 Posts user info edit post |
I am certainly not a professional and do not do this for a living.
Absolutely no chicken wire used in this build, though.
Not all of the welds are pretty, but it is welded. JB weld is used to fill in some of the gaps and bondo will be used. it will look... different when it's done, that's for sure.
