^ the way he does it he doesn't get the makeup calls. He whines, he's so damn selfish and when he thinks he's fouled he's mouthing off to the refs while his team tries to play defense with 4 guys. I agree the man is talented, but I think this team can be a playoff team without him next year.

I don't think we would've made the playoffs this year without him

Next year, who knows

I, too, wish he would shut his mouth, but he's no worse than Carter or Howard when it comes to complaining about calls

I mean everybody says when Howard goes out, we don't drive to the basket...maybe because when we do drive, we don't get any calls

bitching at the refs isn't going to make them change their calls to favor you.

Unless you're a Vince Carter or a Dwight Howard or any of the other stars in the league, none of which are on the Bobcats

[Edited on April 26, 2010 at 10:46 PM. Reason : you'd think Larry Brown or MJ would help get some calls, but nope...maybe if we were the 5 or 6 seed]

do they always shoot the three that much? felt like i was watching a duke team with nothing but nba players, everytime momentum was built they drove, dish, 3

the amount of shit reddick was getting at the game was hilarious

Yeah that's Orlando's MO...give it to Howard...when the double team comes, kick it out for an open 3, or kick it out and pass around the perimeter to the open man for the 3

funny how they booed Redick, although this is the same crowd that gets louder for free t-shirts than they do for NBA playoff basketball...Carter hurt us a lot more than Redick tonight...but he went to UNC! Lets not boo him and get in his head cause he went to UNC! Even though this is a fucking NBA game!

maybe so, i wasn't there

but still, i get booing Redick, lots of UNC fans, he went to Duke and pissed all of them off (as well as State fans)

but with a lot of the fans, you almost think if they had put Gerald Henderson in the game to guard Vince, they'd secretly be pulling for Vince to win the matchup

feel free to boo Redick hardcore, but don't limit it to just him

and this is an opinion of the fans i've had based on going to games for 5 years...not specific to tonight, and i know there are plenty of fans that arent like that

when there was all that commotion going on in the second half and they had to split up the players, i heard a guy near me say something along the lines of "IF IVE GOTTA TAKE SIDES IM TAKING VINCES SIDE"

fucking idiot

i wasnt gonna say anything about the crowd, but i remember hornets regular season games that were way more hype than that, then again the team just looked like they were barely hanging in there the whole game and finally gave out at the end

still fun though

Quote :
"Want to Make an Impact? Join Jordan
By WILLIAM C. RHODEN
Dear LeBron:

On Monday many of us watched the young Charlotte Bobcats fight the good fight before falling to the Orlando Magic in a first-round sweep.

Charlotte was the young kid with a big heart fighting the playground bully and holding his own. Ultimately, the bully was too big and the Bobcats were not good enough.

Charlotte was missing one piece, LeBron: you.

For the last two years the world has been advising you about where to play next season — or where to stay.

Where can you make the greatest impact? Where can you make the most dollars? Where?

In Charlotte, N.C., where Michael Jordan, your basketball hero, is majority owner. Jordan became the second African-American owner of an N.B.A. franchise. He bought the franchise from the first, Robert L. Johnson. More significantly, in terms of power dynamics, Jordan is the first former N.B.A. player to become a majority owner in the league.

Why should this matter?

It matters because from the beginning of your career, you set your sights on being different, on being more than a basketball player.

You began your career by saying you wanted to be Warren E. Buffett and Muhammad Ali. That struck many as an odd combination. Buffett became famous for amassing wealth, while Ali, standing on courage and principle, did it without spending a dime.

You won’t achieve immortality by selling sneakers. You can achieve acclaim, however, by doing something completely counterintuitive, perhaps by joining a six-year-old franchise and a first-year majority owner and making Charlotte a championship destination.

Why Charlotte?

The answer is simple: Jordan.

Last year you said that you wanted to honor his legacy. You proposed that the N.B.A. retire his No. 23.

“He’s the best basketball player we’ve ever seen,” you told The Associated Press. “Mike does it on the court and off the court. If you see 23, you think about Michael Jordan. You see guys flying through the air, you think about Michael Jordan. You see game-winning shots, you think about Michael Jordan. You see fly kicks, you think about Michael Jordan. He did so much, it has to be recognized, and not just by putting him in the Hall of Fame.”

Forget the number, LeBron. The greatest tribute you could pay him — dollars notwithstanding — is joining forces with him next season and creating a dynasty in Charlotte. The two of you could forge a powerful alliance and achieve in an unprecedented way.

Imagine the story line: Charlotte became the 30th member of the N.B.A. on May 3, 2004. Six years later, LeBron James joins the franchise and takes it to heights previously unknown.

Not even Jordan did that. Jordan was drafted into his role. He was drafted by the Bulls in 1984 and led Chicago to its first N.B.A. championship in 1991 at age 28.

Your advisers may tell you to stay as far away from Jordan as possible. He will block your light, they say. Jordan will steal your thunder.

No. The only one who may do that is a 6-foot-9 do-everything forward named Kevin Durant. Entering Game 5 on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, Durant and the Oklahoma Thunder were two victories away from eliminating the Lakers from the N.B.A. playoffs.

That’s the thing about sports, LeBron. Fame is so fleeting. What is hot today is old news tomorrow. A good friend was recently lamenting that his teenage son couldn’t understand all the fuss over Jordan. LeBron James was the hero of his era.

Most athletes are destined to be overtaken by the next new thing — unless they become Babe Ruth, Joe Louis, Jackie Robinson or Ali.

The only way to achieve such stature is to do something bold and timeless, like taking an unpopular stand or making an unpopular move.

For you, LeBron, that would be leaving Cleveland to join forces with Jordan in Charlotte. Jordan wins his first N.B.A. championship as an owner, you win your first as a player. Then another. And another.

Where are the marketing opportunities in Charlotte? Where are they in Cleveland? The opportunities go where you go, LeBron. Marketing follows you — it has been that way since you were in high school. You go to Jupiter, you put Jupiter on the map.

Of course, you can always stay in Cleveland. (Just don’t expect Joakim Noah to come visit.)

But if a championship does not happen for you in Cleveland this year, it probably won’t in the future, either. The Cavaliers added Shaquille O’Neal and Antawn Jamison. Short of acquiring the Dream Team, how many more pieces does the franchise need to add?

New York is the world’s greatest city, but going there could be a potential pie in the face. Suddenly, Mike D’Antoni is not looking like the world’s greatest coach, but if the Knicks did not win an N.B.A. championship with you on the floor, guess whose fault that would be? Yours.

Charlotte is the Queen City. And you are the king without a crown.

There is no wrong answer — unless the question is, How do I achieve greatness? If that’s the aim, go to Charlotte, team with Jordan and win championships.

"

lol but thanks anyways

nice idea, but no way...ever

he said financials notwithstanding, he should go to the Bobcats...not sure about this, but i'm pretty sure they wouldn't be enough under the cap to even offer him a reasonable deal, and they would need a major roster overhaul to get there

funny though...when the trade was made, you didn't even think he was a top-50 player in the NBA

something about how all his averages would go down in our offense...

Boris is outside the top 200 he was god awful this year.

The key for us this offseason is keeping Tyrus. He's one of the most underrated players in the league, but he will go relatively unnoticed even though he's a much better FA choice than someone like Joe Johnson on the downside of their career who will demand more money.

I have a feeling we'll just give him the 1 yr qualifying offer so that we stay flexible heading into the new bargaining agreement.

Felton won't find a huge market for his services because most of the contenders are set at point guard and the bottom feeders need a bigger splash name. I could see Miami and NYK going after him fairly aggressively if they strike out on their main targets (Bosh, Wade, Boozer, etc).

I think he'll definitely command slightly more than the MLE I'm thinking somewhere in the 5 yrs $35 million range. Thats a tough call because he's still pretty good value at that price but we don't have enough around him to build a top team if we pay him that much. On the other hand, we can't make the playoffs if we lose him with no other serviceable starting PG on the roster. Had we not botched the DJ Augustin pick and wasted a first rounder on Ajinca we could have grabbed one of the 300 PG's in the draft this year

Also to add to ^^ my previous post I feel like we are the lead candidate for Chris Paul's services if the Hornets decide to work out a sign&trade.

They have Collison already and are probably looking to slash spending given their new ownership.

I think we have the inside track due to his close relationship with MJ, native home state, a perfect supporting cast (lobs to Tyson, Gerald, Tyrus?!), a beautiful expiring deal from a productive player (nazr), and what I would have to imagine his desire to get out of the hellhole that is New Orleans.

Bobcats in talks to purchase, trade for draft picks

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Charlotte Bobcats are talking with teams about purchasing a pick or making a trade that would yield selections in Thursday's NBA draft.

Coach Larry Brown says Monday that several teams are looking to give up picks. The Michael Jordan-owned Bobcats don't have a selection in the first or second round.

Although Brown has shied away from saying for certain that he'll return for a third season in Charlotte, he's been busy putting dozens of players through pre-draft workouts.

Jerome Randle of California, Lance Thomas of Duke, Deon Thompson of North Carolina, Ryan Thompson of Rider, Ben Uzoh of Tulsa and Jeremy Wise, who played at Southern Mississippi before spending a year in the NBA Development League, worked out Monday."

It's not surprising that teams are looking to shed picks if they can pick up 1-3 million and save a million in player salary. It is surprising we are the ones trying to buy one so that's nice to see Jordan put his money where his mouth is. Hoping that means we will make the committment to keep Tyrus Thomas, not dump Nazr for nothing, resign Felton if he'll take a reasonable offer, and continue to go after Chris Paul...

For anyone interested, the Bobcats are having an open house at the arena Thursday night. They're trying to get people to buy season tickets for 50% off, but they have other stuff, like coverage of the draft (and free food). Gerald Wallace, Muggsy Bogues and David Thompson will be there.

We've worked out a lot of guys over the last couple weeks

I'm still kind of skeptical that we get into the draft

Basically I like Coach Brown and the improvement of the team from where we were a year ago to where we are now

But I still have absolutely zero confidence in the ability of our front office to draft

Ty Thomas wants to stay with the 'Cats:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5314994

Quote :
"CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Impending restricted free agent Tyrus Thomas has made it clear: He wants to stay in Charlotte and sign a long-term deal with the Bobcats.

Thomas says he "definitely" wants to remain with the Bobcats after being acquired in a February trade from Chicago. General manager Rod Higgins said earlier this month it's likely the Bobcats will offer him a one-year qualifying offer worth a little more than $6 million to make him a restricted free agent.

The 6-foot-10 Thomas averaged 10.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in 25 games with the Bobcats last season. He had 21 points and nine rebounds in a playoff game against Orlando.

Thomas spoke by phone Tuesday from Washington, where he was to receive a Jefferson Award for his community service in the Baton Rouge, La., area."
