31-0 win. KC is very vulnerable if they don't get Cassel back soon.

If Cassel isn't back next week the Rams D will tear them apart also.

Hopefully he either stays out or plays crappy in his return (I think rapistburger played pretty bad when he came back from the same thing)

Deon was all over Priv's nuts postgame. He's always liked Rivers, and the interview was pretty funny. Deon asked him for one of Priv's flannel shirts from his post game presser. Then ended the interview by saying, "I love me some Philip Rivers."

That interview with Sanders was almost a little uncomfortable.

All I know is State fans should NEVER complain about the press that Rivers gets. Save an article here or there after he does something stupid like kick a football, the press has been on his nuts the past few years...deservedly so.

It would be a shame if they don't make the playoffs this year. Here's to KC slipping and/or one of the other AFC teams losing 2 of their next 3 games and maybe they can get a wildcard spot.

The only press I have seen lately that irritated me was somebody on Sunday NFL Countdown saying that Rivers learned to be an elite quarterback by learning from Drew Brees while he was in San Diego. At the same time, people were saying the Chargers made a bad move in getting rid of Brees because he went to New Orleans and won the Super Bowl. It's not like he got an upgraded defense or special teams in NO.

Garay is a monster. It's amazing that a 31-year-old guy with 8 career tackles prior to coming to SD, and signed off another team's practice squad, can be one of the best nose tackles in the league and a top-5 interior pass-rusher.

Dude has 6 sacks on the year, and he didn't even get credit for this one:

The Jets winning hurt as well. That was our best shot at a wildcard if they could have lost 2 of their last 3. There's still a chance to fuck up when Sanchez is your QB...but our best shot still has to be KC dropping one of their last two.

It's sad, because this could be San Diego's most complete team (when healthy). The defense and offense are tops in the league. Poor Philip.

Chiefs still have to play the Titans and the Raiders, two dangerous teams. Hopefully one of them will be able to knock off KC and SD can sneak into the playoffs. Hate to see a team this talented left at home come January.

So would we win the tie-breaker if KC loses to either Oakland or Titans. If only the Chiefs had to finish the season in New England, Pittsburgh, or Baltimore .

I guess we could also pray for the JEts to lose out. Yesterday was the first time I think I have ever rooted for the Steelers. Even in defeat Pittsburgh still pisses me off.

chargers win the tie breaker regardless

KC loses to Oakland, then SD gets it based off division record

KC loses to Ten, SD gets it based off conference record

How could I forget the BIGGEST and BEST counter-example to Slave Famous's trolling???

90's - 2007 Green Bay Brett Farve fans.

Plus i would tread lightly Slave Famous, your comments pretty much alienate a major population of the Sports Talk forum and/or any NCSU alum present during River's tenure.

didn't feel like looking for the rivers thread since this is on the first page. Saw this on one of the charger boards.

Quote :
"The Most Efficient QB In League History
Philip Rivers now has 78 career regular season starts under his belt. Over that time the Bolts are 54-24, that means the Bolts have won 69.2% of those games.

Currently ranked as the most efficient QB in NFL history, Rivers owns some other amazing statistical facts:

Philip has still never thrown more than two interceptions in a game. That's an 85 game streak if you just count his starts and include his seven playoff starts. As far as I can tell this streak is an NFL record.

Another record Philip holds, is the average amount of points his teams have scored under his leadership. In his 78 career starts, the Bolts have scored 2,185 points, that's an average of 28.01 ppg.

Back to efficiency...

During Philip's tenure as the Chargers' QB, the league average efficiency number has been between a rating of 78.5 and 82.7, here's a little chart showing each season's league average efficiency number, and how many games Rivers has been above or below that season's number.

2010 - 82.7 -- 11 over, 3 under
2009 - 81.2 -- 16 over, 0 under
2008 - 81.5 -- 12 over, 4 under
2007 - 80.9 --- 7 over, 9 under
2006 - 78.5 -- 12 over, 4 under
_______________________________
...............58 over, 20 under

Last year Philip never dipped below the league average. That is just astounding, and shows how consistant Rivers has been. In fact if we discount his 2nd season, in which he had a sophomore slump that many young QB's have, and just look at the last three seasons, Philip has gone over the average 39 times while only dipping below it 7 times.

Almost oddly, the two least efficient days of Philip's career, the week 15 game vs KC in 2006 when his passer rating as a shockingly low 12.4 and the 30.6 rating he put up against the Colts in November 2007 both ended up in the Win column for the Bolts. Of course it helps when Peyton Manning throws 6 interceptions.

Here's Philip's 78 starts broken down by passer rating, showing the team's W-L record...

40 starts @ 100.0+........32-8
10 starts @ 90.0-99.9......8-2
_9 starts @ 80.0-89.9......5-4
_8 starts @ 70.0-79.9......2-6
_4 starts @ 60.0-69.9......3-1
_1 start_ @ 50.0-59.9......1-0
_4 starts @ 40.0-49.9......1-3
_1 start_ @ 30.0-39.9......1-0
_0 starts @ 20.0-29.9.........
_1 start_ @ 10.0-19.9......1-0

And here's the team W-L record under some other categories...

38 starts with zero interceptions...30-8
25 starts with one interception.....15-10
15 starts with two interceptions.....9-6

12 games with zero TD passes.........8-4
20 games with one TD pass...........12-8
27 games with two TD passes.........19-8
16 games with three TD passes.......12-4
_3 games with four TD passes.........3-0

_3 games with 400+ yards.............0-3
15 games with 300-399 yards.........11-4
37 games with 200-299 yards.........26-11
21 games with 100-199 yards.........15-6
_2 games with under 100 yds..........2-0

All Rivers has to do now to cement his status among the very elite QBs is to lead the Bolts to a Championship.

BTW: By the time Peyton Manning had completed his 78th regular season start, he'd had 10 games in which he threw 3 or more interception. And during their first 78 starts, both Peyton and Philip threw 134 TD passes, but Rivers only threw 55 INTs during those games, while Manning threw 98 during his.

Fact is Peyton only has finsihed a season with an efficiency rating above 100.0 three times in now 13 seasons (he won't get there this year). And this will be Philip's third straight year above 100.0 out of five seasons as a starter. Even Tom Brady, who'll finish above 100.0 this year, will only be doing it for the 2nd time in his career.

Philip Rivers, the most efficient QB in league history. And now one of the most consistent. "

just needs him a ring, dammit.
