Nigel De Jong apparently just broke Hatem Ben Arfa's leg.

Typical. That dude needs to be fucking banned. Him and Lee Cattermole, and Karl Henry, whatever his name was. Maybe Arsene Wenger was right last year. Refs have got to start protecting these players better.

That Adam Johnson goal was sweet. Beat two defenders and ripped it across the face of the goal. Wonder why Newcastle didn't start Carroll?

so what happened to Ben Arfa? i read the gamecast commentary that said possible leg break, and I know De Jong tackled him (no surprise there), but I haven't seen it.

(probably won't watch it anyway since i can't really stomach those things)

I could have sworn I saw a number of posts hating on VDV when he got transferred on deadline day, maybe it was on another forum. Dude ran that game, it was basically him versus Villa.

I absolutely loved that rocket from Alex. That thing would have went into orbit if it wasn't for the net. My favorite shots are taken with the outside of the foot.

Everton finally wins a god damn game.

I swear if we don't beat Lolverpool I will be Englishly livid.

looks like a deal is imminent for Liverpool... John Henry and the group that owns the Red Sox are behind it. I know he's got cash but another American owner can't really be good for fans' morale, right?

^ maybe not - Hicks & Gillette are blocking it from what I read, and they tried to shitcan Christian Purslow and some other director to install their own people.

Those two are so fucking stupid. They want to sell, but they wont sell to certain people. They want to sell, but they wont lower the asking price because there's no interest in a club that's being run into the ground. Stupid.

Even stupider, they tried to replace them with Hicks Jr., who might be hated even more his father after that "blow me fuck face" incident

Fuck these dudes, seriously. That has nothing to do with me being a Liverpool supporter either. These two jackasses are the worst kind of owners possible.

Yeah, H&G suck, but the Glazers aren't too far behind. Just look at what they're doing in Tampa (obviously not the same thing but they're like 30 mil under the cap in the NFL)

Henry's group turned one of the most famous losers in sports history into champions and at the same time managed to save their tradition when no one thought it possible.. Anyone hating on this move is simply a reverse anglophile (what is that word?)

Also loving the parallel with the Yankees ownership having a partnership with Man United and now the Red Sox with Liverpool..

Yeah, I think the whole Fenway/Anfield similarities should reassure fans about ruining the club's history/legacy. If anything, that's the one thing I'm sure they'll do a good job with.

damn I didn't realize United's wages were that high

also, 84 mil loss after an operating profit of 100 for United

everything's gravy now with a world class coach and the end years of some United legends but that shit could go south quick once those players retire, get too old/injured, etc. They're making huge ass profits but they can't reinvest shit into the club. Missing CL one year could really set them back and we could see what happened with Liverpool...

So I'm browsing over soccernet and I see an article about Giggs backing Nani as "the next Ronaldo".

C'mon Giggs, you should know better than that.

You can't start comparing a player like Nani to a player like Ronaldo. I see what he is trying to do. He wants to build up his player's confidence and draw some attention to his play early in the season, but you can't put him in a position to live up to another player like that. It's an impossible task, and when he eventually doesn't meet those expectations he's going to be viewed in a negative light that much quicker. It's the equivalent of me saying "Frank Gore backs Alex Smith as the next Peyton Manning".

Nani is not, and never will be, anywhere near Ronaldo's class.

From the Time Warner Cable channel changes page, a bit of good news (for those of us stuck with Time Warner) = "Effective November 23rd, the following channels will be added to the Sports Pass: Fox Soccer Plus HD Channel 1536."

No word yet on the regular Fox Soccer Channel in HD but hopefully it won't be too much longer before they add it.

lol and they're looking for 1.6 billion in damages

fucking dicks

"solely of" http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2010/10/tom_hicks_files_suit_over_live.php

from the guardian live blog, haha - "I am currently warming down from a rather intense tennis match," says Phil Wainwright. "I declare the Liverpool sale valid. I take it the court I'm playing on has as much jurisdiction as the Texan one?"

haha 1.6 billion, are they serious? They're about to run a team into administration that they bought for like 300 mil a couple years ago, and they want 1.6 bil after everything they've done?

I guess we'll get to see how much judicial clout the state of texas has in the soccer world, which should be interesting.
