If head to head mattered in tie breakers I would be all about a draw tonight but I am going under the assumption we lose to Germany potentially by a lot and Ghana could easily put a hurt on Portugal so I still feel like our best option is win tonight and I'm not sure that lineup says we are trying to win rather than just contain Ronaldo and get the draw. Disappointing result today because of how it happened, but overall this is exactly where most people hoped we would be after 2 games. Germany has no real reason to go hard given their goal differential advantage. Gotta feel pretty good about our chance to advance now.

Yep. This mostly affects Ghana because they are sitting at -1 and the US is at 1. If Ghana wins and US loses, then it's trouble. Portugal would have to win by a lot and would need help from Germany to advance.

The possibilities:

USA Win vs Germany - we're through as winner of group G
USA tie vs Germany - we're through as second of group G

Ghana tie vs Portugal - we're through as either winner (if we win) or second (tie or loss)

USA loss vs Germany

And Portugal Win, will come down to goal differential, it gets real tricky if portugal wins by a lot or we lose by several.
And Ghana win, both games must be one goal games in order for the US to have a chance. Also Ghana must only score one or fewer goals than the US in order for the US to advance. US moves on if GD and GF are even.
