5-3 record the rest of the way should clinch a bid

Well Uva and UNC are guaranteed losses...so 5-1 in the other games. Don't see it happening.

well since this season basically mirrors all our others, i expect another acct run to the semi's. The duke win is still a gold star on our resume.

I don't think any of the games we have left to play are guaranteed losses. Particularly the Virginia game at home with how well we played against them earlier this season.

I actually agree. When Cat was confident in his game, he played well, hit difficult shots, and was a difference maker. When he gets cold feet and goes conservative on offense, we don't see the athleticism he displayed last season. Seems a bit gun shy right now (with the exception of the G-Tech game).

I think it'll be a closer game than we want. Wake's not an easy away game, even on bad years.

Given our struggles with getting to the line since ACC play has started ( ) I'd like to see Cat driving to the rim more against the likes of Wake, VT, etc. I think he got a bit gunshy after getting beaten up by Cincy and WV but it's time to sack up

anyone ever seen us play at Wake? What's the experience like? I'd kinda like to go but it would be tough to get to Winston on a work night for an 8pm game.

If you sit near the student section, they'll taunt you by chanting "state school"

Other than that, it's a pretty tame crowd. And it's pretty easy to move seats.

Went to a game at Wake maybe 10 years ago. We of course lost the game, so they busted out some "If you can't go to college go to State" chant as well as something about tractors I think. Basically a tamer UNC crowd.

Was at a Wake game earlier this year, actually. Nice but quiet venue. Was about 3/4 full. It was an ACC game. They don't play Zombie Nation as much any more, at least not on this night.

I've only been to college games at State, UNC, Duke, Wake, VT, the Verizon Center (Georgetown), Greensboro Coliseum (ACC Tournament 1st and 2nd rounds), Carolina Coliseum (old USC venue), and the 2nd Charlotte Coliseum (the original Hive). LJVM is behind all of those as far as crowd noise.

Wake plays up to us the way we play to Duke.

However, Wake doesn't have to reach as far.

^Me too. If you live in Winston, you almost always know at least one person who can get you free tickets. Lots of Wake employees in this town.

It can actually get really loud when Wake doesn't suck. Back in the Chris Paul days, it was shocking how loud that place got in the lower level. Agree about the moving-seats part . I started in the upper deck last year and ended up on the 4th or 5th row (mid-court) by halftime.

Team has a lot of raw talent but those skills haven't been developed. The defense is still porous but the bigs are BAD on both ends of the floor. We still don't have a true post player and bigs STILL can't set screens properly.

Lets see, last year we got blown out by Duke/Virginia, lost UNC 2X, lost to Syracuse in a buzzer beater if memory serves correct and split 1/1 with Miami, Wake, & Pitt. I agree with your statement thus far, at least we had one signature win when last year we had zero at this point.

11 games into the ACC last year we were 16-8 (6-5).

We went 3-4 down the stretch, losses to Clemson, Syracuse, UNC, and Mia. Then won the Thurs and Friday ACC games (Mia and Syracuse). Syracuse ended up being our signature win, even though they started slipping late in the year.

Now we are 14-10 (5-6)
I'd say it's possible for us to go 4-3 down the stretch and end up a 9-9 again. We have the signature Duke win in hand, but that was so long ago I'm sure it matters as much as us beating Syracuse in the tournament last year. I think we need another ranked win and a weekend weekend appearance at the ACC tournament again.

4-3 finish would put us in the same spot where ACCT heroics probably gets us into the mark gottfried invitational

3-4 and we'd probably need to make the final. actually that may not even be enough. 15 losses is a fuckload. i dont think any team has ever gotten an at large bid with more than 14

Also when did Archie become John Wooden? I know we're a "what have you done for me lately" society and he made the Elite 8 last year, but he also had double digit losses every year he's been there. He also recently lost to UMass, who has a lower Kenpom rating than Wake. Yet he is the key ingredient for taking us to the promised land? Sure he managed to go on a nice run in the tourney last year with less talent than us, but he also got gifted some matchups like a terrible Syracuse team. He's a good coach, but people act like he's Coach K or something.

^5 he may not end up being that far off.

Currently we are 8th at 5-6, behind Clemson (6-4) and Syracuse (6-3) post season ban. 19 wins may be a stretch, but we should have 17.

For what it's worth, we're only one win down from #6. We have to get ahead of Clemson and Syracuse, and we play them the last 2 games of the season.

LOL. He has Dayton making Elite Eights and in much better shape than NC State.....keep trolling.

He booted both centers off the team. He has a team 17-5 with nobody over 6-6. Any State fan should want to take the risk and hire him. We know what Gott brings. Compare the talent rankings between the Dayton roster and ours. Then get back to us.

People said Sean would not pan out either.
