So much more could have been accomplished this season but this squad is setup greatly for a multi-year run of contending...

The liverpool implosion is glorious. The icing on top is Rodger' comments this morning. Sweet sweet karma. This season couldn't have gone any better.

I'd say not getting knocked out of the FA Cup by one of your former strikers would've made it better.

Personally I was a fan of the way United freaked out and completely threw decades of running the club one way out the window and modeled their spending after City (not that I think that's wrong).

United did what it had to. Its very clear now that money does rule football. Sir Alex was great but a manager like that doesn't come around often. Despite the money the academy will always play a critical role, it has done so this year as well when we didn't have a fit defender at Old Trafford early on.

I just find it hilarious that everyone thought we were going to go down liverpool's route and become irrelevant again. United as a club is much more marketable and we got away with not spending like City because of Sir Alex. I also don't expect United to blow loads of cash this off summer as well. The investment was needed that was pretty clear under Moyes but United also needed to invest in the right manager first.

In terms of results I really don't care Welbeck knocked us out, good for him but Welbeck hasn't improved at all since when he was at United. Where is he these days? On the bench for Arsenal while Giroud gets the goals. This year's objective was always top 4 and United are very close to getting it.

United destroying Liverpool's season, Gerrard sending off in his last match against United, and United giving a big fuck you to everyone else in the last month. Feels good.

To be fair, United is the only top five team in England this season to not lose in Europe so far..

It will be tight. United need 13 more points to virtually secure top 4 on goal difference. If I look at the fixture list and make a conservative guess here is what I get:

City - 1 point
Chelsea - 0 points
Everton - 1 points
West Brom - 3 points
Crystal Palace - 1 point
Arsenal - 1 point
Hull - 3 points

That is 10 points. That would put United at 72 points. The thing is the max pool and tottenham can get is 75. I think Tottenham are all but done. They have to play City, Everton, and Southampton still. Don't think they will take all 21 points there.

Pool has the team to take all 21 points but that requires them going to Chelsea and winning.

Getting 3 points against City would get us 98% there if you ask me. The momentum is with us, lets see if the players can continue to capitalize. Really we just need to beat West Brom, Crystal Palace, Hull, and Everton and we are there. Everton and Palace are huge trap games though. Get 3 points over city and arsenal and we will finish 2nd. LVG is a big game manager, lets see how he does here.

Spurs backline this game... Wow. Just put in Yedlin. Surely he could provide equal cover to Vlad and would be a much bigger presence going forward.

Injuries happen. While I am certainly less optimistic I am curious to see how the team reacts and how Van Gaal sets up. The great form was sustained, largely due to the players who were playing. Will be interesting to see if Van Gaal can get Di Maria and Shaw playing well again. If only one of Carrick or Blind were fit. Even Jones. The midfield is likely going to get overrun due to a lack of a DM.

Certainly will highlight the need for a CDM, CB, and Winger for next year. Wonder if Fellaini will drop back or Rooney. I would prefer Rooney to drop back with either Falcao or RVP getting a start. Keep Fellaini on the left with Young.

where's your belief in Man U, yo? SAF wouldn't have been daunted by the prospect of facing Chelsea w/o Carrick, Vidic, Ronaldo and Valencia...he'd have plugged the gaps and made clear that he would not tolerate a loss.

I mean, I am delighted to observe such defeatism in a Manchester United supporter, but still, it strikes me as kinda sad, too. (Plus I hate Chelsea more than Man U)

Honestly, it feels good to be back among the rest of the other clubs in terms of expectations. PL defeats don't piss me off as much as they did during SAF's reign. An innocuous 3 game losing streak would have us worried sick during Fergie's days.

Atleast we're not as bad as Tottenham, Ribsie ey?

Agreed. Ospinas should have had a yellow and a PK. And then the Cahill handball.

Cescs would have never been a foul anywhere else on field either.
