i don't understand the otterbox people. it's not really about the aesthetics so much as the practicality. can you even put the phone in your pocket anymore? what the fuck are you doing with your phone that you require that much protection? how many accessories can't you use anymore because of the bulk of the case?

i drop my droid at least twice a week cause i'm clumsy as fuck, and after all the cracked iphone screens i see, it seemed like a no-brainer to me. it might be more durable with the aluminum casing, but i don't really want to take that chance. i wear scrubs with cargo pockets to work, so the extra size isn't really a big deal.

if you were arguing, say, that otterboxes are ridiculously thick and cumbersome, you might have a point...though i'd counter that on a phone so tiny as all previous versions of the iphone, the otterbox makes it easier to hold (seriously, i cannot fathom using such a small phone for anything but talking)

that said, i had an otterbox-esque case (bodyglove brand, $13) on my thunderbolt and was almost excited when it broke and i had an excuse to get a TPU case (no brand whatsoever, $2)

Had mine since about 8:30. Maybe it's because I came from a 4 and not a 4S but the speed difference is incredible. Especially rendering webpages. TWW used to take 2-3 seconds a page load, it's instantaneous now.

So, I'm hesitant about grading to ios6 because I constantly use the walking directions in the maps app. I'm using a 3GS. Is ven worth considering putting ios6 on my phone or should I just ignore the update?

If it worth updating, does anyone have a good suggestion to replace the maps app?

Just reset the network settings and now I have data.

Anybody know if there's a way to tell if you are on a tower that has 4G LTE or just the 3G+ stuff that AT&T insists on calling 4G as well? I just did a speed test and got 4.5 Mbps which is the same as I got before on 3G. Icon is reporting as 4G though.

oh, ok. I don't have an LTE icon, only 4G, which is what the HPSA+ was showing on the 4S. Good to know they do differentiate between the two. The two cities closest to me both are supposed to have LTE, but I guess it doesn't come out to my area yet. No big deal, 4.5 Mbps is still faster than my home connection anyway.

Seems pretty sturdy, the guy had to throw it downward to make it shatter. Survived multiple falls above shoulder and head level.

I've never used a case on any of my iphones, never had a problem. Hopefully that trend will continue.
