what if you need to go out of town for business? or family emergency where bringing them isn't an option?

it is good to get them at least comfortable with staying somewhere else/with someone else. I mean, I wouldn't expect a dog to be happy about losing his owner for days on end, but if he can't adjust in a timely manner (ie: within an hour or two of being dropped off at a kennel), that should be something to be worked on


my dog used to be real bad about it, and he still doesn't like when I leave, but he gets over it after a little while and just accepts that life will go own with out me being there

i arrange to have my dog at my parents' house or with some friends or neighbors. i always return the favor so it's never been a problem. i just won't do the kennel EVER again.

why? did something bad happen?

i trust the vet that i used to work at as a boarding facility, but prob would only board an older animal there that might need vet/special care (because it is small and they have few runs and no outdoor runs and the "play" area is shitty). i like the more campy type boarding facilities. our old dog used to love to go to shady grove (it isn't shady grove anymore). they had indoor/outdoor runs and they closed the door in the middle at night so all the dogs were in, but for the day they got to go in and out and the play area was a lot nicer (with slides!!!) and they had nature trails for walks.
