Took out the ones that we actually can't get. I don't want Drew either, but if we're willing to give them a raise we can get any of those 5 coaches.1/18/2011 12:07:18 AM |

Of those names
1) Mike Anderson -- Would love to have him, but it would be a lateral move at best. No way he leaves an established top 10-15 program for a rebuilding job 2) Scott Drew -- Don't want him. We'd be on probation in 3 weeks 3) Mark Turgeon -- Wanted him in the last coaching search. aTm is a mediocre job, but he's a midwest guy. Don't see him leaving Texas for North Carolina 4) Frank Martin -- His name gets brought up a lot, but all he's proven IMO is that he can keep the train rolling down the tracks...not that he can actually put the train on the tracks. Don't think I would really want him. 5) Josh Pastner -- See Frank Martin
Money talks, but I think if any of these programs can get within the vicinity of what NC State will pay (which they all can I would think) then they'd all be stupid to come here. I don't see any of them realistically happening. 1/18/2011 12:59:23 AM |

Javi didn't get Tracy the ball either you dolt. Smith had 2 points on two shots at halftime. There was no effort to get him the ball whatsoever in the first half...and for some reason I don't think it had to do anything with the guards not getting him the ball, I don't think it was in our game plan. I rarely saw him even try to post up in the first half. Maybe Sid didn't think we'd have success against their big men and wanted to try and get it going on the perimeter....I don't know...I just didn't see any effort (from the guards or from Tracy) to get the ball down low.1/18/2011 7:39:16 AM |

I find it hard to believe that getting the ball inside to tracy isnt ALWAYS in the gameplan. Lowe may ultimately not be the best coach for us, but the guy isn't dumb.
I just think that sometimes the guards aren't patient enough to get it in to him. If the pass isn't there immediately, they will drive or shoot and against a good defensive team like FSU, the pass wasn't there on the first try most of the time. 1/18/2011 9:21:27 AM |

I wish I could go back and watch the game. Watching in real time, it barely looked like he was even trying to post up. And the guards should be coached to give more than a passing glance to Tracy posting up and to keep trying if the pass isn't there the first time. 1/18/2011 9:26:32 AM |

also, the ACC is going to be a better draw than the Big 12 with the conference alignment uncertainty. we would certainly have to break the bank to get him, but I don't think he's out of the question. 1/18/2011 11:10:35 AM |

There are two division here
1. Sid sucks, we're not going to turn it around, it's a forgone conclusion that we'll miss the tournament
2. Sid sucks, but it ain't over yet, so let's reserve judgement
Assuming you remove retards like adder and rally from the discussion, I guess the sunshine whatever crew is #2

Here is where I stand and unlike the trolls (rally, boozie, ohbeebe) I have supported my arguments pretty clearly with outside sources. It is too early to tell if Lowe sucks. He could still be an average in game coach who is good recruiter (Roy Williams lite). This is the first year under Lowe that we have legitimate ACC level talent. We are three games into the ACC season with a very inexperienced team. Give it till the end of the season. If there are no results (ncaa tourney) then and only then will I have enough information to agree with "Lowe sucks he must go crowd". Until that point there are way to many variables left (as I have documented) to make a rational decision. 1/18/2011 12:40:48 PM |

Huh? How is having Costner, Hickson, McCauley, Fells, Grant and Horner on the same team not ACC level talent? Are you kidding me?
What is ACC-level talent? The 8-9 McD's AA's that only Duke/UNC have in the entire country?
And I know your response will be we had no PG obviously, but that is directly due to a recruiting miss of picking Javi over Chris Warren.1/18/2011 12:49:18 PM |

If we don't keep Sidney, our next coach has to have a first or last name that begins with an "S" so that we can continue to use the "______ Sunshine Squad" to describe his supporters.
Which brings up this question? What did "HHH" stand for back in the late Statefans/early Packpride day?? I know it was "Herb Haters something" along those lines. 1/18/2011 12:49:50 PM |

I'm pretty sure we could get Mike Anderson if we're willing to pay him appropriately. He's making like 1.55 million a year with an additional 200k being held per year to be paid on completion of his contract. We'd probably have to pay more than 2 million a year for him, how much more I don't even know. Lowe makes like what right now... 800K a year? We willing to pay 2+ million a year for success?
Also, is Mike Anderson worth 2 million a year?] 1/18/2011 1:14:26 PM |

Absolutely he is. He was hired there within a month or so of us hiring Lowe.
Since then he's had them to one elite 8, and currently has them at #13 in the AP poll. Watching them play last night was a thing of beauty. 23 forced turnovers... god, what I wouldn't give for that.
He's certainly worth 2 million a year. He brings the style of play a lot of our fans have clamored for, and he's been successful everywhere he has coached thus far.1/18/2011 1:21:12 PM |

You do realize our starting PG had a season ending injury that year? McCauley, Costner, and Horner were all recruited as perimeter oriented big men for Sendek's offense (McCauley made a remarkable transition to a more traditional post player). Fells and Grant were forced to play out of position (due to our lack/injuries at the PG position). Costner was injured/ fat that season. The reality isn't quite as damning is it? This has been discussed at length you would think a mod could keep up.1/18/2011 1:26:27 PM |

I mean obviously Sid's second year had the most talent of any of his pre-2010 squads. I thought that was pretty obvious with my inclusion of Hickson. Guess not, though.
And how is missing in Chris Warren an unsubstantiated rumor? He visited, didn't get an offer and Javi did.
Not quite sure what kind of evidence you really want me to have. I'm sorry that I wasn't on his OV trip hosting him.

I don't know anything about Chris Warren other than we obviously missed that boat
And all my recruiting knowledge comes from playing NCAA Football
But it looks like he committed to Ole Miss a week after his visit. Do coaches usually offer during the visit or very shortly thereafter? Is it possible that Sid missed that section in his College Basketball Coaching Primer? 1/18/2011 1:47:41 PM |

He's also had ACL reconstruction surgery.
He is here his freshman year and we are a tourney team IMO, but that is obviously conjecture as well. And what exactly do you want from a guy? He's averaging 17.5 ppg and 4+ assists per game for his entire four-year career. 1/18/2011 1:48:11 PM |

And did Sid even "choose Javi over Warren"
Javi committed months after Warren
Didn't we just pick him up off the scrap heap because we missed on Warren
Seems like Sid just fucked up and lost out to Ole Miss, and we had to make due

Warren puts up a lot of points because Mississippi really isn't that good and he's the best option on a team of mostly mediocre players. Right now he's just a more consistent, bit less turnover prone version of Javi. 1/18/2011 1:57:45 PM |
