Considering we had cases like this when I volunteered with the DV/SA agency, I don't think it's right to automatically question someone like that. I think the husband would know if it seemed sketchy, and questioning a victim in that sort of way is trust going to cause more problems. That scenario isn't super uncommon, and IMO it would be naive to automatically assume she was just cheating.

Even if you're aren't automatically assuming she cheated, or at least phrasing it that way, asking your wife something like that in this case is going to create a huge gap between you and her. And if they went to the police, I would imagine they got a rape kit done. That will tell you who it was (if they can get a sample from the perp), and many girls who are lying about rape don't take that step. If your girlfriend told you your friend raped her, would you really ask her a question like that if she seemed genuine?

But it does happen. I've heard plenty of stories where girls cried rape when it didn't really happen and they were using it to cover up cheating, a pregnancy, or get revenge on another man. Especially in a situation like this.

Whether it was "consensual" sex and she lied to the husband or it was a real scenario, this case should demonstrate clearly that guys should not be trying to fuck women who have been drinking heavily, especially if they are also under the influence. Passivity gets mistaken for acceptance too easily, it would seem. As the story is written, they have a lot of courage to press charges. Being previously involved with the perpetrator is probably why most rapes go unreported.
