TEXAS CITY, Texas -- A road rage incident in Texas City involved a driver armed with a gun and another driver armed with a bowl of oatmeal, police said.

Texas City police said the incident started on state Highway 146 near Loop 197 about 9 a.m. Monday.

"I still cannot believe it. I am still dumbfounded on how this even happened," said Bobby Plyer.

Plyer, 49, said he and his wife were driving northbound on state Highway 146 and their 20-year-old daughter was following in her car.

"I looked in my rear-view mirror, and this white pickup truck is barreling down on us," Plyer said. "And he gets up right behind my daughter."

Plyer said the driver of the pickup truck almost ran his daughter off the road. He admitted that he chased the pickup truck, hoping to get its license plate number.

Police said the drivers swerved, swore at each other and eventually pulled over and got out of their cars.

"When he jumped out of the car, I saw his hand," Plyer said. "I didn't know what was going to happen, and I had a split second to decide what to do."

Detectives said Plyer grabbed his gun and confronted the driver of the pickup truck.

The pickup truck driver got scared and tossed a bowl of hot oatmeal at Plyer to distract him long enough to get away, investigators said.

"An off-duty constable sees the disturbance, people shouting at each other. He comes up and sees one man with a gun, he draws his gun," Capt. Brian Goetschius said.

Plyer was arrested, but he was later released with no charges.

The driver of the pickup truck, Jonathan Carlin, said he did nothing wrong.

The case will be referred to a grand jury.

What the christ is it with people and that one-way parking area that you drive through when going to chick fil a at crossroads in Cary? I mean, the spaces are clearly oriented one way, the clear lane width is not wide enough to make it two full lanes, and the painted arrows coming from the other direction indicate that you can go straight there. You go slightly further and you can turn left. I saw four idiots do this today stopping by chick fil a.

Fuck I hate people.
