Ahhh...somehow missed that 4.2 assists in his last year. Oh well...I'd still take 8 and 4...as long as he was better than Javi. But if you can average 17 in the SEC the past few years, you'll probably get at least 12-15 in the ACC as bad as this conference has been.

Assists mean a lot less in college. With the 35 second clock, most teams get out of their sets plays and the point guard ceases to be the focal point of the half court offense. Its why double digit assists averages are so rare at the college level. Hockey assists would be a much better metric.

Maybe he didn't get an offer because he wasn't realistically going to take it? You do realize that Javi/ Warren weren't being expected to start. They were being recruited as the backup to Degand. Who the fuck knows it is bullshit quibbling over the recruitment of a what was ultimately projected to be a backup PG...

Atsur was a very solid PG for us

However he has also become a future hall of famer in hindsight

I recall some games where we were down 2-3 points with about 20 seconds to go, and Atsur would jack up a 35 footer and everybody would hate him afterwards

But now that he's gone, he was basically Steve Nash when he was here, amirite

adder, we missed on the Javi recruitment. He wasn't ever expected to be anything great, but what we were hoping to get from him was a serviceable player that could maybe be solid by his junior/senior years. Warren was probably the better option, hindsight being 20/20 and all, but of course even he isn't THAT attractive of an option.

My reasoning never went any further than he wasn't offered a scholarship for whatever reason after having an OV. In hindsight, it's a pretty big miss -- I'm not acting like I know the reason why, but what I do know is: a) he came on an OV; b) he was never offered; and c) he's world's better than Javi, who was offered.

He's [Javi] a starter that doesn't see starter minutes, and is 8th on our team in offensive rating, last in eFG%, and behind only Zo and JV in turnover rate.

^ , I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that Wright's dad was the biggest reason he went to GT, and I think Lee Fowler sucking as his job had something to do with Mr Wright not feeling as comfortable with his son going to State. Scuttlebutt was that there was a decent chance Wright decommitted and would go to GT because of his dad even if Herb stayed so I'm not completely sure how much of a factor Fowler/Lowe was there.

It's been a while, I know his dad didn't actively post, but I think he MIGHT have had a premium membership (I think one of the mods over there gave it to him). I was a frequent premium poster over there around that time.

IIRC...in the transition period (from when Herb left to when Sidney was hired), Fowler also did a real shitty job of keeping in contact with the recruits that we had already signed. Wright liked Sendek a lot, his dad did not like the way he was treated by the fan base, Lee Fowler ignored them, and he was less than impressed with Sidney Lowe.

Horner was the only recruit we kept from that class (ha!). We lost Dan Werner to Florida (I think he started his freshmen year there, or at least got some good minutes, then ended up having a mediocre career), and we lost Larry Davis to Seton Hall. He was pretty average as well and ended up transferring to some smaller school...Loyola Marymount I think.

In hindsight it was a pretty big "miss" (again neither you nor I know that he would have come here had he been offered so to call it a miss is a stretch I guess in your world OV mean the recruit is a lock ). You also alleged that Javi was recruited OVER Warren when Javi was picked up at the last minute so either you were uninformed or making a disingenuous statement.

So, I've watched a lot of episodes of Hoarders on TLC. Through watching this show I've started to be able to piece together signs of people who are mentally unstable. There are many times that adder seems to display through his post many of these traits.

The point I was trying to make NYM (sorry for the Mod boy that wasn't civil) is that you had no idea what went into the decision for Warren not to come here. To make an assumption that Lowe just said fuck it I don't want him and didn't offer is a little bit of a stretch. I gave an alternate scenario that many would argue was just as rational.

The real point to me was that the Warren decision is fairly irrelevant (unless you are Captain Hindsight) because he wasn't being recruited as anything but a backup/ role player.

To my understanding that's basically how it happened. Javi was the result of missing on some other players (like Wright) and not offering some others it appeared we had a decent chance with (Like Warren). When we got Javi there was basically no one good left
