I wouldnt think so. If the starter isnt working, then the battery would still be holding a charge and it wouldnt matter if you jumped it or not, it (the battery) isnt the problem

but, if you tried jumping it, and it started up, then I would think that the battery was the problem and not the starter. Jumping would rule out one or the other.

I'm no car expert, but thats what I would think would happen
