If we could get Daniels and a decent combo guard then I'd be extremely happy with the 2011 class. I'd imagine we would be in the top 25 for classes too, which is nice due to the publicity the program would get. We'd have a 5* PF, a 4* C, a 3/4* SF (depends on the site), and then whatever guard we picked up. That would provide us with some good depth at certain positions and potential stars at others.

any recent news regarding Rodney Purvis? Are we still on his radar? I would think the amount of time he spent with our players/recruits at the NC Pro-Am this summer would positively affect his interest in us

I don't know if any of this is new, but it looks like Duke has another top5 recruiting class next year

St. John's is absolutely murdering it on the recruiting trail, though I guess that was to be expected with Lavin as the HC.

I was at Westchester Academy in High Point on Monday for a middle school boy's game.

Both Deuce and Quincy Miller showed up after varsity practice - when the middle school game ended, I watched them shoot around. Deuce's shot looked a little unorthodox, but his 3's were going in. Quincy could probably stand under the basket and grab rim. He was shooting about 50% from probably 30 ft out at the top of the key.

They'll be a definite boost to Baylor's program. It'll be interesting to see if anything sketchy comes out from the NCAA between now and the 2011 season about their recruitment.

i have a lot of friends from NYC so it wouldn't make me upset to see them do well. Plus, i think in the last 5-6 years, the mystique of NYC Basketball is kind of down and a good St. Johns team would pick that back up.

And your point is? It's not like he has a bunch of 2 star scrubs committed he's got 6 players rated as 4 or 5 star guys. Selling playing time is only going to take you so far when you've got 3 other dudes at the same position committed. Lavin's doing an incredible job on the recruiting trail, and chalking it up to having a bunch of schollys available is reductive and simplistic.

^^ speaking of that, its probably the wrong thread, but in Butch Davis's press conf. on monday he said that during thanksgiving, the players go txgiving shopping with the coaches' wives. I know that probably isn't all that big of a deal, but who was the kid who was banging Phil Ford's wife? That PG for Kerlina

Kind of worries me that we're not signing a guard for 11-12. Once Javi leaves, we'll only have 3 scholarship athletes to play those positions, and with our injury bug ...

Oh well. Hope we get Lester.

Scout's latest update:

Joseph Uchebo - #75 overall, #8 Center (4*)

Tyler Harris - #25 PF (3*)

(and gravis is hinting that we might "get a couple surprises before too long......")

National Hoops Festival Review

http://rutgers.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1164454

Torian Graham "stole the show" with 34 points.
T.J. Warren sounds like a versatile SF who can play well in all areas

Best quote, even though it was a mention at the bottom of the page
Quote :
"While he remains a work in progress on the offensive end, N.C. State signee Joseph Uchebo is in terrific shape and did outstanding work on the glass. The 6-foot-9 center pulled down a whopping 25 boards to go with his nine points during 30 minutes of action."

Good Lord, how we need a player who can crash the boards.

Fall Signing Day Grades

http://www.accsports.com/articles/201012129335/brick-early-signing-period-report-cards.php

Quote :
"NORTH CAROLINA STATE: B-

Both Wolfpack signees, sturdy 6-10 C Joseph Uchebo and mobile 6-7 lefty WF Tyler Harris, appear ready to make significant contributions to Sidney Lowe’s program early in their college careers, but there are still three available scholarships that need to be utilized, and the best recruiting target for the spring, big-time 6-8 FL/CA combo forward DeAndre Daniels, almost certainly will not sign with the Pack. We do expect Uchebo to provide needed rebounding help, while wiry Harris has ample scoring tools, though he’s not as good as older brother Tobias, a current freshman starter at Tennessee. Perhaps the biggest question for State now is how long will it be before prominent freshmen C.J. Leslie, Lorenzo Brown and (perhaps) Ryan Harrow depart for the NBA draft? As long as they’re at N.C. State, the Wolfpack will be capable of beating any ACC team."

PackInsider is that saying that DeAndre Daniels and Christian Garrett will be visiting for the Arizona game. They're 2011 teammates that orignally hail from the California, and are playing in the Florida now.

If you see them, show some love.
